  1. My current weight: 146 lbs
Weight change since my last recorded weight: -1 lbs
Total weight change to date: -86 lbs

Miracle of miracles, I didn't regain any of last week's
whoosh! Instead, I'm down another lb. I'm only 1 lb away
from reaching my WW weight loss goal. The biggest miracle is
that I don't feel like stopping! I know I'm carrying more
than loose skin around my middle section. I've decided to go
out on a limb and set my personal goal weight at 126. Since
I don't recall ever being that weight or staying there, and
I haven't been normal weight since elementary school, I
don't actually know what my ideal weight is. I've used some
calculators that put my ideal weight at 123. My doctor in
high school said I should weigh 120. With that in mind, 126
seems at the high end of what's possible. As usual, though,
between now and then, I'll focus on reaching one mini-goal
    at a time.

Construction is winding down. All the big stuff and most of
the little stuff is done. There have been a few mistakes,
wrong cabinet doors ordered for example, but they're being
rectified. Monday & Tuesday will be final touchups--I'm
supposed to write a punchlist this weekend--and some minor
repair work I'd contracted. Then they'll pull up the carpet
on the main floor, something they offered to do at no
charge, and let me know if my floors can be refinished or if
    I should just recarpet.

One major mishap occurred this week. My house was broken
into sometime during the day on Wednesday. I noticed a few
odd things when I got home from work Wednesday evening, but
didn't think too much of what I was seeing. When you've got
construction people coming in and out of your house all the
time, you kinda expect the unexpected. On Thursday morning,
though, after my carpenter arrived and I began discussing
things with him, it became more and more apparent that the
weird things weren't related at all to anyone doing work at
my house on Wednesday. In fact, no one worked inside my
house on Wednesday. Finally, when I opened the door to
leave, I saw that the lockbox was gone and the doorknob
broken off. That's when everything clicked, and I realized
the weird things I'd noticed were not the result of
    paranormal activity.

Turns out that the guy who had been setting my bathroom tile
got fired on Tuesday morning. On Monday, after he left and
the others left, I discovered his grinder had been left
behind. At the time, I didn't think anything of it, there
are so many tools and equipment lying around. I figure that
once this guy realized he left his grinder here, he decided
to come and get it. When he saw that no one was here
working, he got angry, and decided he was entitled to
retrieve his equipment, no matter the means. Once inside, he
helped himself to a few more things than just the items that
belonged to him. My digital camera is gone, so is my DVD
player, a bunch of audio CDs are missing, and a jar of
    change was emptied.

I was pretty upset Thursday night, and spent much of the
evening crying. More than the loss of any material
objects, I resented that the one, truly precious thing
that had been stolen was the wonderful experience this
project has been for me. Here's the amazing thing though.
All the while that I was upset and crying and being angry
and crying and grieving and crying, I was cleaning my
house: vacuuming and dusting and washing and polishing and
straightening. Not eating. Cleaning. Unless you're a
messie or a flybaby (a la www.flylady.net), you have no
idea how strange and unusual this behavior is for me. I'm
going to claim a major NSV right here. You see, I tend to
have two physical response to emotions: crying or eating
or both. This time, though, instead of crying and eating,
I cried and cleaned and cleaned and cried. Eating didn't
even occur to me. Even if that's a one-time occurrence,
I'm ecstatic it happened this once.

Early Friday morning, the president of the construction
company came to my house to meet me and offer his apologies
and concern. I took the rest of the day off to get my
bearings again and to make sure nothing else was missing.
The company president called to ask that I send him an
itemized list of things missing and their costs. Today he's
coming by to talk with me more and to offer me payment for
the items lost. He's also making arrangements to inspect the
work this guy did and to correct anything that might be
wrong with it. And he's agreed that the only two people
allowed access to my house are the carpenter and the project
manager. No more lockbox on the front door. No one else gets
in or stays here without one of them being here, if I'm not.
I have to say, the company is making things right.

After spending Friday at home, I'm all right too. I decided
I wasn't going to let that guy take anything away from this
experience. Crazy stuff happens. Some guy got angry and
needed to hurt someone. My house happened to be the handiest
target. I'm going to be happy and grateful ANYWAY. My house
has been transformed beyond my imagination. My kitchen looks
better than any magazine. My bathroom looks like a spread in
the Pottery Barn catalog. My dog is well. My bike is still
here and intact. No one was hurt. All is well.

It's the best day of my life!

Ok, I just can't resist asking ... age and/or height? Only
reason I'm asking is that for some reason I'm thinking you
are the same height as I am - and wondering if 126 is a tad
too low to go? Have you thought about asking your doctor
NOW what a good weight for you would be? A suggested high
school weight probably isn't a good one to go with many
years down the road. I also noted on several sites that
stated ideal weights, that there was also mention that most
women see their ideal weights as lower than they really
    are. Then again ...

I seem to recall you saying you were currently in size 8
petites ... so maybe you want to get down to those size 2
and 4 petites? <Grin> And I'm also guessing petite is gonna
mean you are shorter than me ... who really isn't overly
tall. <heeheehee> Don't worry too much about that skin
around the middle, much of it will continue to disappear for
many more months. The *love handles* that I detested when I
reached goal, are now very minimal - it really has amazed
me. Granted, you can't bounce a quarter off my midsection,
but I'm not looking for that kind of entertainment anyway.
<g> And if you still are losing weight rather easily, then
I'm gonna stick with my observation from last week that
stated *we ain't there yet*. Go for it hon, reach for the
stars, chase after your dreams. As I tell my son - you will
never suceed if the fear of failure keeps you from trying. I
am extremely proud of you, and happy for you!!!

Oh how exciting to be almost done. More decisions to make
... hardwood or carpet, hardwood or carpet. I'm not sticking
my two cents in here - it really is a matter of personal
preference. I know you'll make the decision that is right
for YOU. At least your wrong cabinet doors are being
replaced. 15 years down the road and I'm still living with 2
doors that don't match. Another one of those things where
hub got tired of the job. <G>

Is there any chance that this character was helping himself
to things along the way? Like maybe not taking them all at
once, but an item each day so it would be less noticeable to
you? Can you turn him into the police? I hate hearing things
like this and have no idea why anyone would think that
taking belongings of someone else would make their situation
    any better.

hehehe - welcome to my world of cleaning when upset. I know
it's a major victory for you and how wonderful that you
didn't turn to food during this stressful event. You were
totally entitled to those tears. Theft is horrible, leaves
you feeling like your privacy was invaded and you are no
longer safe in your home. Our homes are supposed to be our
safety nets, if we can't be safe there - where can we be? I
am so sorry you had to go through this, but also am so glad
that it happened the way it did ... when you weren't home,
total house was not trashed, nothing irreplaceable was
lifted, and you were not injured. *Things* can be replaced,
time will heal those icky feelings (anger helps me a lot
    too - lol).

Wow, I am majorly impressed with the company you have
working for you. I wouldn't think it was their
responsibility to replace the items that were taken, by a
worker who no longer had permission to be on your premises.
Sounds to me like you chose a really stand-up operation.

Good for you! Do not let this a**hole win by ruining all the

  4. Congrats on the one more pound gone.

Congrats on being one pound from WW goal.

Congrats on setting a goal based on a number of
    considerations.

(Measure yourself like Lee - maybe you are also taller? (G))

Congrats(??) on cleaning (well, coming from me, cleaning is
not at the top of any list!) (G) But really, congrats on NOT
eating and cleaning. I should have tried that last night.

Spending little time on the negative, as you have chosen
to do - congrats and nice to hear the company is going to
    make it right.

I cried and cleaned and cleaned and cried. Eating didn't
even occur to me. Even if that's a one-time occurrence,
I'm ecstatic it happened this once.

Early Friday morning, the president of the construction
company came to my house to meet me and offer his
apologies and concern. I took the rest of the day off to
get my bearings again and to make sure nothing else was
missing. The company president called to ask that I send
him an itemized list of things missing and their costs.
Today he's coming by to talk with me more and to offer me
payment for the items lost. He's also making arrangements
to inspect the work this guy did and to correct anything
that might be wrong with it. And he's agreed that the only
two people allowed access to my house are the carpenter
and the project manager. No more lockbox on the front
door. No one else gets in or stays here without one of
them being here, if I'm not. I have to say, the company is
    making things right.

After spending Friday at home, I'm all right too. I
decided I wasn't going to let that guy take anything away
from this experience. Crazy stuff happens. Some guy got
angry and needed to hurt someone. My house happened to be
the handiest target. I'm going to be happy and grateful
ANYWAY. My house has been transformed beyond my
imagination. My kitchen looks better than any magazine. My
bathroom looks like a spread in the Pottery Barn catalog.
My dog is well. My bike is still here and intact. No one
    was hurt. All is well.

It's the best day of my life!

  5. Oh Linda, I'm so proud of you for not letting that angry guy
colour your great experience of getting your house redone!!
And the NSV of cleaning when you were so upset was just
    incredible!!

Congrats on losing a pound this week. It's great that you
have picked your goal weight!! 20 more lbs at the rate you
are going now should be fairly quick!!

Miracle of miracles, I didn't regain any of last week's
whoosh! Instead, I'm down another lb. I'm only 1 lb away
from reaching my WW weight loss goal. The biggest miracle
is that I don't feel like stopping! I know I'm carrying
more than loose skin around my middle section. I've
decided to go out on a limb and set my personal goal
weight at 126. Since I don't recall ever being that weight
or staying there, and I haven't been normal weight since
elementary school, I don't actually know what my ideal
weight is. I've used some calculators that put my ideal
weight at 123. My doctor in high school said I should
weigh 120. With that in mind, 126 seems at the high end of
what's possible. As usual, though, between now and then,
I'll focus on reaching one mini-goal at a time.

Construction is winding down. All the big stuff and most
of the little stuff is done. There have been a few
mistakes, wrong cabinet doors ordered for example, but
they're being rectified. Monday & Tuesday will be final
touchups--I'm supposed to write a punchlist this weekend--
and some minor repair work I'd contracted. Then they'll
pull up the carpet on the main floor, something they
offered to do at no charge, and let me know if my floors
can be refinished or if I should just recarpet.

One major mishap occurred this week. My house was broken
into sometime during the day on Wednesday. I noticed a few
odd things when I got home from work Wednesday evening,
but didn't think too much of what I was seeing. When
you've got construction people coming in and out of your
house all the time, you kinda expect the unexpected. On
Thursday morning, though, after my carpenter arrived and I
began discussing things with him, it became more and more
apparent that the weird things weren't related at all to
anyone doing work at my house on Wednesday. In fact, no
one worked inside my house on Wednesday. Finally, when I
opened the door to leave, I saw that the lockbox was gone
and the doorknob broken off. That's when everything
clicked, and I realized the weird things I'd noticed were
not the result of paranormal activity.

Turns out that the guy who had been setting my bathroom
tile got fired on Tuesday morning. On Monday, after he
left and the others left, I discovered his grinder had
been left behind. At the time, I didn't think anything of
it, there are so many tools and equipment lying around. I
figure that once this guy realized he left his grinder
here, he decided to come and get it. When he saw that no
one was here working, he got angry, and decided he was
entitled to retrieve his equipment, no matter the means.
Once inside, he helped himself to a few more things than
just the items that belonged to him. My digital camera is
gone, so is my DVD player, a bunch of audio CDs are
missing, and a jar of change was emptied.

  6. Great job this week. Both on losing another pound but
handling the stress associated with having your house
    broken into.

I once had a garbage man break into the house where I lived
when I was a graduate student. He came into my bedroom while
I was asleep. I scared him off (thank god) when I woke up
and yelled at him. It is not a easy feeling knowing that
someone got in when they should not have.

You certainly were lucky that the contractor company has
been so good about reimbursing you. Most would claim that it
could not have been their former employee that did this. You
picked the right company to do the work for you.

  8. What a week you must have had! But I think you need extra
congrats for the reaction you had to not turn to food! The
reward you had besides the 1lb loss is of course the fact
that this is a huuuuuge NSV in itself, and one we are all
trying to aim for! I 'm glad to hear that you 're OK, that

Today he's coming by to talk with me more and to offer me

to inspect the work this guy did and to correct anything
that might be wrong with it. And he's agreed that the only

and the project manager. No more lockbox on the front
door. No one else gets in or stays here without one of
them being here, if I'm not. I have to say, the company is
    making things right.

After spending Friday at home, I'm all right too. I
decided I wasn't going to let that guy take anything away
from this experience. Crazy stuff happens. Some guy got
angry and needed to hurt someone. My house happened to be

Height: a hair UNDER 5'4". Unlike Lee, who recently grew
in stature, I'm still the same height I've always been.
    And I'm 50.

My daughters, who are about my same height and build,
weighed between 115 and 120 in high school. Now they try to
keep their weight between 125 and 130, even the one who's
had the baby. They both look very healthy. So I'm thinking
that if we share the same build, then 126 isn't unrealistic
for me either. Much lower than that, I'm really not
interested in achieving because I think maintenance would be
    impossible.

HA! I have ZERO aspirations to bounce a quarter off my
midsection. Heck, I'm still marvelling that when I'm lying
down, my resting tummy is lower than my hips. My daughters
wear 4 and 6 petites, depending on the mfr and style.
Currently I wear 8 and 10 petites, depending on mfr and
style. The skin I'm not terribly worried about. Once
construction is done and I can put my house back in order,
I'll resume my exercise regime. As long as my muscles and
bones are strong, and my body fat is at a healthy limit,
    I'll be happy.

Oh how exciting to be almost done. More decisions to make
... hardwood or carpet, hardwood or carpet. I'm not
sticking my two cents in here - it really is a matter of
personal preference. I know you'll make the decision that
is right for YOU. At least your wrong cabinet doors are
being replaced. 15 years down the road and I'm still living
with 2 doors that don't match. Another one of those things
where hub got tired of the job. <G>

In addition to the renovation of the two rooms, I'm having
small fixes and upgrades done. Lots of plaster patching, a
bedroom expansion by knocking out one closet, electrical
upgrades, new lighting in the dining room, foyer, and
upstairs hallway. By the time I'm done, the entire interior
of the house will be painted. So yeah, lots of decisions
    yet to make.

Is there any chance that this character was helping himself

once, but an item each day so it would be less noticeable
to you? Can you turn him into the police? I hate hearing
things like this and have no idea why anyone would think
that taking belongings of someone else would make their
    situation any better.

I haven't noticed anything else missing. Then again, I'm not
the most observant person, especially when it comes to stuff
in my house. I can trip over things and not connect that
with the need to get it out of the way. LOL Maybe I should
take inventory of the things I'm not tripping over.

hehehe - welcome to my world of cleaning when upset. I know
it's a major victory for you and how wonderful that you
didn't turn to food during this stressful event. You were
totally entitled to those tears.
*Things* can be replaced,
time will heal those icky feelings (anger helps me a lot
    too - lol).

I completely expect my cleaning frenzy to be a one-time
phenomenon. If it's something more permanent, that would
be a lifetime change too significant for me to take in at
    the moment.

  13. One more thing. I stopped asking my doctors about how much I

lost any amount. I don't have a single doc willing to commit
to an ideal weight for me. I've decided they're as much in
the dark about that sort of thing as I am. As much as I may
want to apply a precise science to my weight, I think there
are too many variables for it to be exact. I'm left with
asking myself how I feel in my body. Right now, I feel like
I can keep going, that I haven't yet reached my ideal
weight. I'm hoping I'll know when I get there.

offered to do at no charge, and let me know if my floors
can be refinished or if I should just recarpet.

Oh how exciting to be almost done. More decisions to make
... hardwood or carpet, hardwood or carpet. I'm not
sticking my two cents in here - it really is a matter of
personal preference. I know you'll make the decision that
is right for YOU. At least your wrong cabinet doors are
being replaced. 15 years down the road and I'm still living
with 2 doors that don't match. Another one of those things
where hub got tired of the job. <G>

odd things when I got home from work Wednesday evening,
but didn't think too much of what I was seeing. When
you've got construction people coming in and out of your

Thursday morning, though, after my carpenter arrived and I
began discussing things with him, it became more and more
apparent that the weird things weren't related at all to
anyone doing work at my house on Wednesday. In fact, no
one worked inside my house on Wednesday. Finally, when I
opened the door to leave, I saw that the lockbox was gone
and the doorknob broken off. That's when everything
clicked, and I realized the weird things I'd noticed were
not the result of paranormal activity.

    Oh boy, that really sucks!

been left behind.

Is there any chance that this character was helping himself
to things along the way? Like maybe not taking them all at
once, but an item each day so it would be less noticeable
to you? Can you turn him into the police? I hate hearing
things like this and have no idea why anyone would think
that taking belongings of someone else would make their
    situation any better.

Even if that's a one-time occurrence,
I'm ecstatic it happened this once.

hehehe - welcome to my world of cleaning when upset. I know
it's a major victory for you and how wonderful that you
didn't turn to food during this stressful event. You were
totally entitled to those tears.
*Things* can be replaced,
time will heal those icky feelings (anger helps me a lot
    too - lol).

get my bearings again and to make sure nothing else was

Wow, I am majorly impressed with the company you have
working for you. I wouldn't think it was their
responsibility to replace the items that were taken, by a
worker who no longer had permission to be on your premises.
Sounds to me like you chose a really stand-up operation.

  14. Thanks Connie. I just returned home from shopping to replace
my camera. That was the most distressing loss because I was
sending pictures of the work to my daughters every night.
Losing that felt like I was losing touch with them somehow.

Something very strange is going on with me. I just haven't
felt like eating lately. Like today, I ate breakfast, but
got too busy with other things to eat lunch. Now it's almost
8 pm. I'm going to have to make myself eat something. In the
past, I've eaten to relieve stress. If I'm changing to NOT
eating due to stress, I won't know what to make of that.
That's not the way I want to get rid of the last 21 lbs. I'm
fully prepared to go another 20 weeks or longer.

Great job this week. Both on losing another pound but
handling the stress associated with having your house
    broken into.

I once had a garbage man break into the house where I lived
when I was a graduate student. He came into my bedroom
while I was asleep. I scared him off (thank god) when I
woke up and yelled at him. It is not a easy feeling knowing
that someone got in when they should not have.

You certainly were lucky that the contractor company has
been so good about reimbursing you. Most would claim that
it could not have been their former employee that did this.
You picked the right company to do the work for you.

Miracle of miracles, I didn't regain any of last week's

  16. Thanks Lee. When I lived in California, my home was broken
into a couple of times and my purse stolen a handful of

  17. Thanks Nathalie. As the decorator told me a few weeks ago
when I was telling her that I thought my carpenter was
channeling my dad, sometimes people come along who are meant
to teach us something. I've decided to apply that bit of

  20. Many doctors will only tell that you should NOT go below
a certain weight. This is especially true for their
    older patients.

At our age they figure we'll know when to stop. IF we went
to them and said "I only want to get to a certain weight
can you write me a note?" they will probably comply with
    that request.

One more thing. I stopped asking my doctors about how much
I should weigh because they're always so pleased when I've

commit to an ideal weight for me. I've decided they're as
much in the dark about that sort of thing as I am. As much
as I may want to apply a precise science to my weight, I
think there are too many variables for it to be exact. I'm
left with asking myself how I feel in my body. Right now,

my ideal weight. I'm hoping I'll know when I get there.

miracle is that I don't feel like stopping! I know I'm
carrying more than loose skin around my middle section.
I've decided to go out on a limb and set my personal
goal weight at 126. Since I don't recall ever being that
weight or staying there, and I haven't been normal
weight since elementary school, I don't actually know
what my ideal weight is. I've used some calculators that
put my ideal weight at 123. My doctor in high school
said I should weigh 120. With that in mind, 126 seems at
the high end of what's possible. As usual, though,
between now and then, I'll focus on reaching one mini-
    goal at a time.

Ok, I just can't resist asking ... age and/or height?
    Only reason I'm

    asking is

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

that for some reason I'm thinking you are the same height
    as I am - and

    wondering

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

if 126 is a tad too low to go? Have you thought about
    asking your doctor

    NOW what

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

a good weight for you would be? A suggested high school
    weight probably

    isn't a

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

good one to go with many years down the road. I also
    noted on several

    sites that

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

stated ideal weights, that there was also mention that
    most women see

    their ideal

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

weights as lower than they really are. Then again ...

I seem to recall you saying you were currently in size 8
    petites ... so

    maybe you

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

want to get down to those size 2 and 4 petites? <Grin>
    And I'm also

    guessing

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

petite is gonna mean you are shorter than me ... who
    really isn't overly

    tall.

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

<heeheehee> Don't worry too much about that skin around
    the middle, much

    of it

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

will continue to disappear for many more months. The
    *love handles* that

    I

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

detested when I reached goal, are now very minimal - it
    really has amazed

    me.

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

Granted, you can't bounce a quarter off my midsection,
    but I'm not

    looking for

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

that kind of entertainment anyway. <g> And if you still
    are losing

    weight rather

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

easily, then I'm gonna stick with my observation from
    last week that

    stated *we

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

ain't there yet*. Go for it hon, reach for the stars,
    chase after your

    dreams.

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

As I tell my son - you will never suceed if the fear of
    failure keeps you

    from

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

trying. I am extremely proud of you, and happy for you!!!

Oh how exciting to be almost done. More decisions to make
    ... hardwood

    or carpet,

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

hardwood or carpet. I'm not sticking my two cents in here
    - it really is

    a matter

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

of personal preference. I know you'll make the decision
    that is right

    for YOU.

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

At least your wrong cabinet doors are being replaced. 15
    years down the

    road and

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

I'm still living with 2 doors that don't match. Another
    one of those

    things where

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

hub got tired of the job. <G>

One major mishap occurred this week. My house was broken
into sometime during the day on Wednesday. I noticed a
few odd things when I got home from work Wednesday
evening, but didn't think too much of what I was seeing.
When you've got construction people coming in and out of
your house all the time, you kinda expect the
unexpected. On Thursday morning, though, after my
carpenter arrived and I began discussing things with
him, it became more and more apparent that the weird
things weren't related at all to anyone doing work at my
house on Wednesday. In fact, no one worked inside my
house on Wednesday. Finally, when I opened the door to
leave, I saw that the lockbox was gone and the doorknob
broken off. That's when everything clicked, and I
realized the weird things I'd noticed were not the
    result of paranormal activity.

    Oh boy, that really sucks!

Turns out that the guy who had been setting my bathroom
tile got fired on Tuesday morning. On Monday, after he
left and the others left, I discovered his grinder had
been left behind. At the time, I didn't think anything
of it, there are so many tools and equipment lying
around. I figure that once this guy realized he left his
grinder here, he decided to come and get it. When he saw
that no one was here working, he got angry, and decided
he was entitled to retrieve his equipment, no matter the
means. Once inside, he helped himself to a few more
things than just the items that belonged to him. My
digital camera is gone, so is my DVD player, a bunch of
audio CDs are missing, and a jar of change was emptied.

Is there any chance that this character was helping
    himself to things

    along the

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

way? Like maybe not taking them all at once, but an item
    each day so it

    would be

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

less noticeable to you? Can you turn him into the
    police? I hate

    hearing things

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

like this and have no idea why anyone would think that
    taking belongings

    of

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

someone else would make their situation any better.

    Quoted message said:

I was pretty upset Thursday night, and spent much of the
evening crying. More than the loss of any material
objects, I resented that the one, truly precious thing
that had been stolen was the wonderful experience this
project has been for me. Here's the amazing thing
though. All the while that I was upset and crying and
being angry and crying and grieving and crying, I was
cleaning my house: vacuuming and dusting and washing and
polishing and straightening. Not eating. Cleaning.
    Unless you're a messie or a flybaby (a la
www.flylady.net), you have no idea how strange and
unusual this behavior is for me. I'm going to claim a
major NSV right here. You see, I tend to have two
physical response to emotions: crying or eating or both.
This time, though, instead of crying and eating, I cried
and cleaned and cleaned and cried. Eating didn't even
occur to me. Even if that's a one-time occurrence, I'm
    ecstatic it happened this once.

hehehe - welcome to my world of cleaning when upset. I
    know it's a major

    victory

    Quoted message said:

for you and how wonderful that you didn't turn to food
    during this

    stressful

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

event. You were totally entitled to those tears. Theft is
    horrible,

    leaves you

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

feeling like your privacy was invaded and you are no
    longer safe in your

    home.

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

Our homes are supposed to be our safety nets, if we can't
    be safe there -

    where

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

can we be? I am so sorry you had to go through this, but
    also am so glad

    that it

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

happened the way it did ... when you weren't home, total
    house was not

    trashed,

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

nothing irreplaceable was lifted, and you were not
    injured. *Things* can

replaced, time will heal those icky feelings (anger helps
    me a lot too -

Early Friday morning, the president of the construction
company came to my house to meet me and offer his
apologies and concern. I took the rest of the day off to
get my bearings again and to make sure nothing else was
missing. The company president called to ask that I send
him an itemized list of things missing and their costs.
Today he's coming by to talk with me more and to offer
me payment for the items lost. He's also making
arrangements to inspect the work this guy did and to
correct anything that might be wrong with it. And he's
agreed that the only two people allowed access to my
house are the carpenter and the project manager. No more
lockbox on the front door. No one else gets in or stays
here without one of them being here, if I'm not. I have
to say, the company is making things right.

Wow, I am majorly impressed with the company you have
    working for you. I

    wouldn't

    Quoted message said:
    Quoted message said:

think it was their responsibility to replace the items
    that were taken,

    by a

    like you

    chose a really stand-up operation.

After spending Friday at home, I'm all right too. I
decided I wasn't going to let that guy take anything
away from this experience. Crazy stuff happens. Some guy
got angry and needed to hurt someone. My house happened
to be the handiest target. I'm going to be happy and
grateful ANYWAY. My house has been transformed beyond my
imagination. My kitchen looks better than any magazine.
My bathroom looks like a spread in the Pottery Barn
catalog. My dog is well. My bike is still here and
intact. No one was hurt. All is well.

Good for you! Do not let this a**hole win by ruining all
    the good
