Quite right. I often go over the tops lightly clad and
carrying very little. But no-one can see what's in my bag!
As for ice axes being essential, far from it. I don't
possess one. For your average walk up a path to the summit
and back they would be completely useless - just an
encumbrance.

But whatabout respecting common property like national
traditions and freedoms. In Scotland, owning the land is not
owning the access. Its a pretty offensive concept to a lot
of us, who are not prpared to act as our own gaolers. Worth
remembering that if you attack the quality of life of many
people, you may encounter resistance. Fortunately, these
conflicts you hanker for are very very rare. Leave us alone
with our affectionate nickname for the 'enemy', and stop
using this friendly place for trying to pick a fight with
folk you find politically uncomfortable. Plenty of other
places for [censored] waving at commies.

There is a place for folk like yourself, its that way
(pointing just south of west) Keep going for 2500 miles. I
like things as they are thanks. Posting half a county is one
American tradition we can live without.
