I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. This week it got to well below -30 Celsius (-20 F) with a windchill that made it feel like -50 Celsius (-58 F). The cold for me was not too hard to beat but it stopped my rear hub, I kept freezing up and all I could do was take my bike for a walk because pedalling was ineffective because the hub was frozen. Does anybody have any suggestions for a grease that will beat the cold?? I have tried a couple different ones but nothing has worked yet. I am not a true cyclist but I commute to work which is only 2 miles back door to back door but for those two miles the cold is winning! Help!!

I've got a coffee jar half full of a grease which I use in Scottish winters, its reputed to be the same stuff used on arctic submarines. It came from my neighbour who uses the stuff on the bearings on the trailerthing he uses to lower his fishing boat down the slipway into the sea. The coldest ride on this bike was in wet -15C temps and everything spun freely that needed to. Mike
I ride to work year round in New Enland. And on the salt,sand,snow,rain,and dame cold maybe not as cold as there. Well I use Super Tech Extreme Pressure Multi-Duty Complex Grease. Its red and smells dame pleasing compared to what I've used in the past. And with 8 bike a 16 oz container last a little over a year.
