    Yesterday afternoon was a bit windy in Cambridgeshire. I did a two stage
    cycle, from Cottenham to Elsworth (for the EARS rocket launch) via
    Wilburton, Willingham, Over, Swaversay and Boxworth.

    The way out was just shy of 25 miles, of which the first five were with
    the wind and the rest seemed to be right into it. I was reduced to
    second gear and in some spots first gear just to keep moving.

    I thought the way home, via Swaversay, Over, Willingham and Rampton
    would be easier as it was only 15 miles. I think the wind had moved,
    even though it was slightly easier, it did still feel like the wind was
    in my face for most of it.

    I feel totally knackered today.

    It was a bit gusty and grim first thing this morning. However, since the
    gusts were behind me I fairly flew to the swimming pool and on the way back
    the wind had dropped a little making the ride pleasantly invigorating rather
    than a death-struggle against the wind.

    Also there were Comedy Roadworks in town. Barely a (>4 wheeled) vehicle was
    stirring on the way into work. Heh.

    At least snow is soft! We got hail here in Hell^WLincoln! My ears took quite
    a while to recover.

    However, the hailblasting removed a good deal of the winter [censored] from my
    bike. Always a silver lining...

    Surely it was no more windy than on any other day. My experience is
    that bends in roads are pretty consistent from one day to the next.

    I find mountain roads the most windy. Those hairpin bends can be
    especially windy.
