Had no idea they still made them. 25 years ago I
think they were made in Mexico. Of course, Eddy rode
one to the hour record in '72! ;-)

In more serious vein, Windsor used to make a lot of Cinelli
knock-offs

I haven't seen one for years but believe they still make
bikes/frames.

They were not really top of the line but were exceedingly
good value for money.

I even owned one of their trackies 'bout 30 years ago.

And thinking back, I owned a Zeus too around the same
time. Totally Zeus except for spokes, rims, tires, and
Ideal saddle

One of my sons has a Windsor track bike. It is nothing
special but a decent value. I believe that someone purchased
the Windsor name and started importing low-end bikes with
the Windsor name. My son's bike came from
www.bikesdirect.com

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, our team, German Bicycle
Sport Club, was sponsored by Windsor. One of the main
members of the club owned a bicycle shop and was a Windsor
dealer. The importer, the late Sid Starr, also imported
Lotus bicycles.

They were generally good value for the money. The only
problems we had were with the ten custom made frames for the
elite members of the club. Six or seven of them cracked in
the bb area, probably due to overheating during brazing.
They had a model, the International, that was a popular
sport touring machine. Their two top of the line racing
machines were equipped with mixes of Campy, Sugino and
Universal.

The wool jerseys they provided the entire club absolutely
sucked. They shrank two sizes on the first cold water wash
and were like hair shirts. Colors didn't run though and the
flocking was good.
