Average wind speed in Madison this year: 9.7 mph
Average wind spped in Madison in 2005: 8.3 mph
Average wind speed in Madison in 2004: 8.6 mph
Average wind speed in Madison in 2003: 9.6 mph
Average wind speed in Madison in 2002: 9.1 mph

So your observation is valid for April in Madison, at least.

Come to think about it, the wind in Houston has been unusually strong down
here too...

1- Not knowing what month it is and
2- saying, "Things are going to hell in a handbasket! Why, we *never*
had [insert complaint here] like this back when I was a kid!"

Where does it suggest that I don't know what month it is? The old
adage states that windy weather dies out in March. That implies that
April is not a particularly windy month. The winds did not diminish
noticeably with the end of March and have continued right through
April and now into May. It's been so windy for so long that it is
really noticeable.

I know what month it is. It's usually the particular day that I have
trouble with. Luckily I have a watch that knows the day and date.
