  1. Hello everyone,

I just recently bought a maxxis hookworm 24x2.5 inche tyre. I bought
this because I couldn't get much height on my 24.1.95 inche tyre. I was
wondering whether or not the fatter/wider/bigger (whatever you say)
helps in trials unicycling, which is why I created this poll to find
out. If you have experience with fat tyres, please let me know by
voting and/or posting. Thank you everyone and happy holidays.

    A. Theres no poll
    B. A hookworm is a freestyle tire, not a trials tire, it will probably
    suck for trials...

Edit: There we go you fixed the poll

Who said that? and for that matter, who does freestyle on a 24"?
    (rhetorical).

If this Hookworm wasn't 24", it would be ideal for street due to its
smooth tread, and for those that do do street on a 24", it's a nice
    tyre :p

  8. you can get the hookworm in 20x1.95 its really not that wide in this
size and should be good for freestyle.

If you go to wide for your rim you might have problems with foldover.

  9. Are you talking freestyle or trials?

For hopping, a larger tire will allow you to run a lower air pressure
and get more spring out of the tire, and reduce pinch plats on drops.

Most freestlylers like high air pressure, making the wider tire heavy,
and accelerate slower. Also the effective gear ratio is slightly
    taller than a 24X2.0

Ride everywhere and never just ride anywhere. If you can ride where you
are going within a hour, do it, and if you can do a trick 50-75% of the
time do it along the way.

False! I've got hookworm and it's an amazing trials tyre! Excellent
control and grip on all sorts of surfaces.

  11. I have a friend who is a great freestyle rider who rides on a 24X3
Hookworm tire. He can also do trials with it and it is a really good
tire. It turns on the dime!

  12. i could jump just as high on a bmx wheelset as a fat trials tire. it
doesn't affect height. it does affect sidehop distance. a fatter tire
grabs the surface you are leaving so that it doesn't slip, and
compresses so you can exhert more force comfortably.

    doesn't REALLLy affect distance either..

  14. It depends on how you hop, as mentioned.

Rolling hop it doesn't really matter all that much, but it does
    definitly help with static hops.

It also helps with drops, bumps, helps with grip, and things like that.

  17. A single big pre-hop can get you more height/distance in side hops.
When you land compress the tire a lot, then leap up your object.
    'How to hop quite high'

Somewhat like if you are jumping on a trampoline if instead of landing
stiff leaged you time your landing and push down really hard w/ you
legs, you can jump a lot higher.
