The TTT comes and goes, this year's course was announced last fall and
didn't include the TTT. Nothing to do with current scandal.

When fans make criticisms of the course, saying it's designed to favor
(or hinder) any particular rider, the inclusion or exclusion of the TTT
is one of the things they'll site. Cynics would say that Basso's team
would do better than Ullrich's team in the TTT so the organizers tweaked
this year's course (last fall) to favor Basso.

The TTT isn't always part of the TdF and the change in the rule that
limited the time a team could win or lose on a TTT has made it almost
superfluous. BTW, some of the same cynics that D. Scott (sorry but I
refuse to call any human "Diablo"... <g>😉 says suspect the absence of a
TTT this year was intended to boost Basso's chances believe that rule
change was meant to hurt Armstrong last year. If they are right both
were exercises in futility.

I should probably tell you to Google it, but Port Moody is a suburb of
Vancouver (Canada), named for Col. Moody, the Royal Engineer who was
responsible for surveying the area.

Historically, it was most famous for briefly being the western terminus
of the Canadian Pacific Railway transcontinental line. Then the line was
extended to Vancouver a year later, and the city lapsed into
unimportance.

Not that I knew beforehand either, but Gonchar/Honchar is a TT
specialist: he's won four TT stages in various Giros d'Italia, and I
think one TT world championship.
