Why no coverage Zabriskie coverage?

Maybe it's partly because Zabriskie is not, as Phil Liggett said,
loquacious.

It wasn't OLN's fault since they just take the pool footage. It has to
do with the Tour's broadcasting crew not showing up in time to catch
the ride of the day. Ooops!

Covering every ride on a point-to-point TT would take a lot of cameras
and motors (and a wireless camera link system more robust than I've

Eurosport did show Zabriski highlights afterwards.

Cycling is a great sport.. but can you imagine how bloody boring it
would be to have every rider... Ugh.. like watching guys pedal around
for 5 hours over 3 weeks isn't enough..

Actually he had Zebraski start very early on purpose, to take advantage of
the weather that would change later in the afternoon according to a
weatherman they consulted especially for this. Taking the yellow in the
first week was a big objective for CSC, apparently.

Is that the CNN weather they checked? They just said exactly the same thing
on their little feature about the TdF stage weather. How late can the
starting times be moded anyways? Does anybody know the rule for this?

I guess (uh-oh, I'll get flamed by Ray for guessing and not knowing) that
one particular man per team is supposed to start last, or maybe the Tour
directors have a fixed list for the last 10 riders or so, but the rest of
the team may be freely switched about.

Or not; how long in advance was the starting order known? Then maybe it
was just a gamble from days before, when CSC handed over their definitive
team list. Or it was all coincidence because Zibrasky is last of his team
because his name starts with a Z. (Basso first, then alphabetically).

a data set for Basso to pace...... again though a later start would
likely helped this work better. More likely Riis knows Z is a strong
IIT rider and said go get a yellow jersey, son.

From the sounds of it, Riis wanted him to win. If it helped Basso, so
much the better. I think Riis was going for the favorable winds, and
figured the podium time would more than make up for the missed footage
in publicity terms.

Riis placed Zabriskie first, Vogt as number 5 and Basso as number 9
because he wanted to follow those 3 riders in the team car. It wouldn't
have been posible otherwise.
Of curse Basso went last in order to get the same weather as Armstrong
and give him Amstrongs splittimes.
