Because I did not adjust his brakes any different than I adjust my own therefore I did not feel guilt which is driven by conscience. A guy called Freud said guilt is a struggle between ego and superego. My god sir please read your Freud.

uh... no, I don't think so... not really interested in freud and not sure how correct he was to begin with... I didn't mean to suggest that you should have felt bad. If you had adjusted the brakes properly, you should have not felt guilty about it at all, in my opinion...

    Hello,

I live near a road where cyclist cycle.
I see them all the time, mostly in the mornings
    and the afternoon.

I don't cycle as of yet, but seeing these cyclist
makes me want to know more about it.

I'd like to know why people cycle.

What are the reasons and the benefits of cycling?

I'd also like to know some personal stories on how
some of you got started in cycling?

    -Carlo

  3. well done

what's the bp now after 200k per week?

  4. Only a person who do not cycle would ask a question like that this. My recommendation is to get a bike ride out into great blue yonder,it will improve your life and you will soon have your answer.
Feel the pleasure of travelling great distances under your own steam, or the challenge of reaching the top of a severe climb, getting a personal best in a time trial or just beating a clubmate past a sign in a sprint, plus the people one meets, the places one sees, not to mention the health benefits. 🙂

  5. i am 112kgs and bp steady at 130/85 no complaints bp was up for about 2 years and droped from 3 tabblet per day to one thanks

  6. I cycle because I'm not good at sports that involve any type of ball. (football, basketball, baseball, tennis, speedball?, etc.) I do well in running, swimming, cycling, and skiing though. So I ride because I'm good at it and I enjoy doing things that I'm good at.

  7. So I can eat more

  8. When I left the military I started to gain weight so I started triathloning, of which I participated in for about a decade. I don't run anymore (old knee's, THANKYOU U.S.M.C....."semper fi" luvuguyz Fox 2/11) but I love to ride still. Lost my liscense but I didn't care, just made me do more of what I love. I commute over week and fit/joy/distance ride on weekend. Cycling more reliable than a woman, more loyal too..........(hope my girl don't see this🙂 )

  9. Like many others on here, I started cycling for fitness. I was weight lifting at the time and wanted a cardio routine that I could tolerate. I bought a Trek 7.2FX and started riding, but found that I couldn't stop. I eventually tapered down on the weight lifting and concentrated on cycling, doing light upper body lifting twice a week and a combination of sit-ups and push-ups now and then. When I started the fitness routine, I weighed 260lb. I've been on it for about 4 months now and weigh 225lb and routinely ride 30 miles. I've run into a problem lately though. My wife started a job, so now I have very little time to cycle. Since she works in the evening, I have to be home with my children who are too young to accompany me on any serious ride. Since I am admittedly addicted, this has been very tough and quite depressing. I have even considered asking her to quit her job so that I can cycle every day again, but she seems happy where she works, so I guess I'll have to find another way. I feel like I am losing the battle and it troubles me. I've even considered buying one of those stationary things that attach to your bike and you can ride it like an exercise bike. At least I would get the exercise, even though it would be boring, I think I would use it because the lack of cycling is seriously affecting my emotional and mental well-being.

  10. I cycle because:
    1. I'm 54 and have arthritic knees
    2. I don't want to drop dead of a heart attack, and prefer to be able to be active and comfortable that way
    3. I like the idea of being able to walk up and down stairs more than one at a time
    4. I love being outdoors, hot or cold, day or night
    5. I can do it with my wife in public
    6. The breeze
    7. I'm a little bit of a gear freak and cycling helps with that itch
    8. The trails we often ride are beautiful
    9. It makes me feel great
    10. It gives me a chance to ride with the sons, and talk or not, depending on how we both feel
    11. It's good healthy exercise that is as far from drudgery as one can get!

  11. 1: To keep fit
2: To enjoy the fresh air
3: I enjoy the serenity and peacefullness

  12. I ride for fitness. There is nothing like coming back from a long ride with legs aching and lungs warm, taking a hot shower and eating a big meal 🙂

Depending on how big your kids are, you may want to look into a child trailer, something like a CoPilot Model A, or a Trek GoBug. It attaches to the back of the bike so you can bring your kids with you on rides.

  14. Is that a trick question?
    If I don't ride, I will die.

  15. 19 years old here, and i bike to work and back every day. want to start more through

Monks are allowed to ride bikes? I didn't know that... what type of bike did you ride and were you allowed to wear "cycling" clothes or did you have to ride wearing a robe?

Where I live there is alot of..ehm..weird church's, IE: Pentacostal, Mormon, Scientologists and Greek Orthodox. The Mormons in particular love using bicycles to, ehm, get their word out. The Scientologists use them for more utilitarian purposes, since apparently they don't believe in cars or something..o0;;. I'm not sure about those Greeks..except there are alot of them around here and they make some Good greek food.

If I had to wager a guess, next time Jesus goes to Jerusalem, hes doing it on a bicycle. Now the ultimate question is: Will it be a Mountain bike or a Road Bike. :p

  18. Because I love it!!!!!!!!!

  19. It's faster than walking.

  20. Right now, because I have no job or car and I need the exercise. Also it's good being able to pack away the food and not worry about getting fat.
