Why did I take that ride? The weather was miserable, I wasn't 100% dressed
for it, so that I got seriously cold. But I had a good time.

Let's start with everyone in the world in one room. Now remove:

    1. Everyone who doesn't ride a bike

    2. Everyone who only rides when the weather is perfect

    3. Everyone who rides in miserable weather because they have to.

    4. Everyone who rides in miserable weather because they are paid to.

I'm willing to guess that we have now eliminated every single person on
earth except you, Claire. Props to you for being the toughest cyclist
    on the whole planet.

If you think the local weather is miserable but describing the
miserable February weather will make other people jealous does it
    actually count as miserable?

(It was cold I tell you. COLD. Cold enough that I actually closed my
windows at night and went so far as to think about wearing long pants.)

Sometimes I think many adults who ride bicycle do so to take a trip back
    in time to childhood.

What do you mean "back" to childhood? Some of keep riding to prevent
    adulthood.
