    I have posted a few times to this group and some posts don't appear (to me)
    and yet
    there are responses.

    Hi Zinc, I had the same issue as you are having when I also used
    Tiscali. Someone on the group pointed me towards News.Individual.NET
    and I have had no problems since. Could be a solution for you too.

    Probable because your ISP is pants (or at least their NNTP (Usenet)
    server is). Pick another ISP, or at least another NNTP server - there
    are still several free ones (for text newsgroups like this one).

    BT Openworld lose posts to groups quite regularly, some have said somewhere
    about 20-25% of them.
