If you're talking about what I call a bash guard, or ring guard, then I've
seen that RF, Kooka, Truvativ (and probably others) sell them. You can also
make your own (like I did) for the SS by grinding down the teeth of the big ring.
These could be called chain guards, cuz if you bang your ring, likely you'll hurt the chain that's
probably on it.

If you're talking about something else, *please disregard.*
I also envision those retro steel covers that would cover the front rings and run all the way back,
like on the old cruisers.

I'm using a Salsa chain ring guard on my Shimano M750 crank set. It's an additional ring that's a
little larger than the 3rd ring (44T) Bolts on with wider spacers on the spider.
I needed to fiddle with my front derailleur to get it to clear the extra ring and shift well.

I've spent most of my money on mountain biking and windsurfing. The rest I've just wasted.
