I really disliked Al Trautwig when OLN first hired him but have grown to
like his enthusiasm. I only watched him in the pre-race show because I Tivo
the live show but didn't mind him at all.

I think that U.S. viewers with OLN won big thing year. I forgot to count up
the total hours that the live show was on-air but I think that it was the
most ever. I also think that OLN did a great job eliminating the
commercials during key points. I know that in the past the got Cadillac &
Powerbar to sponsor the 30 minute block on the last climb of the day but
this year they seemed to do it without a sponsor. I have not heard any
ratings report. It will be interesting to see how OLN did with American
viewers without LA. I assume that the rating must have been OK because Phil
Liggett announced that "they will show every inch of the 2007 Tour of
California."

I think that Christian Vandevelde was a huge winner this year. A few years
ago it looked like his career was over but he has had a great comeback. It
is nice to see him having success.

I think that you can add Freddy to the list of losers. He will probably
come back to race the last part of the season in the U.S. and have an
endless series of mechanical problems with his bike/cleats/wheels.

How about Christophe Moreau to the list of losers? He lost his title of
best finisher for the home country. He looked really frustrated pacing
Cyril Dessel on some of the climbs. You could almost hear him thinking "I
changed teams to do this?"

after the stage to Morzine. This is while he's still trying to pedal
to his car or hotel and can barely talk (he even gets mad at one
of the TV guys for tangling in his bars). Anyway, in the first
few sentences of the interview he mentions and thanks
Horner several times as his only support in the
mountains. So even if dumbass fans have forgotten Horner,
you can expect that Evans and Lotto haven't.

I watched the TdF and saw Horner many times. He was a super domestic and
worked quietly in the background. If you watch the OLN broadcasts and did
not hear his name you should contact Phonak. They have some products for
you.

I wonder if OLN won. Apparently viewership decreased in the US (Europe
as well, including france and germany).

And frankly, i have my suspicions about landis anyways, so saying the
dopers lost is kind of premature.

I knew there were three, I just couldn't think of Calzati (he supported
Italy, so maybe I'm expecting his nationality to be revoked.)

I think maybe we can add Spain to the losing list: Valverde, Mancebo,
Beloki. Plus two riders in the front Sastre and Pereiro about to get
the two top spots, and they let it get away on the last mountain stage.
Has to be heartbreaking for Spain. Freire is little consolation. "Que
lastima".
