    Maybe if the Italian prosecutors get cracking, Basso could get 24601. 😄

    ...or 5150.

    From the above link I understand none of the Italian but ROYPHNOL. What are these guys using a date rape drug as well ??

    The author describes the kinds of pharmaceuticals found in the raids and categorizes them as prescription drugs, vitamins, narcotics, and addictive drugs. He also says that Fuentes's medical registry shows that he has prescribed addictive drugs like diazepam and royphnol (rohipnol). Doesn't imply a link between these drugs and athletes, but it does paint Fuentes out to be a pretty slimey character.

  6. As long as we are talking about spanish references. It is more than curious the utter silence of the Spanish press on the whole Basso confession thing. It would seem that there is great fear in pressing the case further. Valverde? is bad enough but ---spanish soccer? now that is some serious industry to protect!!

    The evidence concerning Valverde appears to be at least as strong as that around any of the other OP suspects. Yet, he's allowed to ride without sanction. Strange double standard.

    In other news:

    Torri explained that he was content with what Scarponi and Ivan Basso revealed. "They recalled the grave mistakes that were made." Scarponi's admission followed two days after Basso agreed to cooperate with CONI's investigation.

    "He was able to detail the 'system' of doping and how the riders come into contact with this web of easygoing doctors, teams without scruples and traffickers."

    Evidently, Scarponi's confession mentions the names of other riders.

    There should be a thorough house cleaning and naming of the remaining 50 suspects prior to the start of the TdF. Otherwise, we'll have the usual sacrifice of a couple of riders, claims that its all better now, and it will be business of usual.

    Utter silence? I think you're right about the soccer angle, but you haven't been looking very hard for Basso confession stories.

    Likely. It lowers your heart rate and allows you to sleep and awake rested without a hangover or any apparent sides.

    He's not riding the Giro. If that had been in his plan I feel pretty certain he'd have been pulled like the other Caisse d'Epargne riders, Zaballa and Plaza.

    Wait and see but I doubt he'll be riding the tour.

    All of the recent developments have just affirmed for me exactly how strong the Omerta code is in the peloton. I think that's a big part of Basso's decision to not say anything more than he absolutely has to.

  11. Hhhm. Let us see what comes of Scarponi's confession. Will we see last minute pull-outs from the Giro before Saturday?

    Diablo though I'm not fluent in Spanish, it seems to me that this is cursory reporting of known facts, that other countries reported a day earlier with better discussion of future implications. The press in Spain ,at least to the point in time of my post, is content to quote Gazzetta dello Sport and not expand.

    You described the Spanish press as being "utterly silent" on Basso's confession - that was an incorrect statement and now you admit you don't read Spanish so apparently your statement was not only incorrect, but completely fabricated.

    I read enough of the Spanish and Italian newspaper sites to say confidently that the reporting is pretty much the same. Basso gives his interviews to La Gazzetta and Manzano gave his to As (remember that one? Did that seem like some kind of white wash?) so they don't always get the same things at the same time but I don't see any signs of negligence in reporting the stories.

  15. Dekker and Cancellara will be clients, Petacchi too. Vino and Popo also.

  16. Well, at a guess I'd say that "RH" could well be Roberto Heras (not previously linked, but an ex-Kelme and Liberty rider, so pretty good odds there), and "Vains" could be Roman Vainsteins.

  17. There are some names you don't have on your list like "Falla", "Mari", "Klaus" etc.

    RH = Heras
    Sansone = Botero
    Santi = Santiago Perez
    4142 = Hamilton
    Manc = Mancebo

    Also "ATR" could be Aitor Gonzalez.

    "Gemma" isn't Pantani since "Gemma" has a blood bag from 2005. Pantani is known as "PTN" or something like that.

    I wonder who Amigo de Birillo is. Kind of suggests Basso was doing this with a friend along for the ride.
