As a medical student soon to be a doctor, I would strongly recommend that Mark Whitehead lay off the Krispy Kremes. The fat-fxxk looks like a sausage that is about to burst. This can't be healthy.

Wow. I remember seeing him race at the Worlds in Colorado Springs in '86. Don't remember what event, but he was going well, at least in the early heats. Back then he was frequently referred to as Meathead, a moniker I assumed he would have objected to. But when asked about the race in an interview, he quipped, "Nobody can beat the Meat today."

Rebecca has nice teeth. Oh, Lemond looks like the prosperous businessman he is. Phinney looks terrific. Grewal looks like my math professor. Anyone know how Eddie B. made out after his house burned last year?

She still looks great, even if it looks like she came to the event wearing a cycling helmet.

I remember I first saw her at the nationals at Bear Mountain in '81--she won the intermed. women's road race. In Velo News, Eddie B was quoted as saying "Is for me another Beth Heiden."

My understanding is that Mark has been on his bike for the last 9 months, and has already dropped about 35 pounds. Even with he extra weight he is carrying right now, he is tearing it up at the San Diego velodrome at the tuesday nght races. Right up there contending with the regular fast crowd guys and winning. Hard to believe that he is still carrying extra weight, but riding very fast.
And yes, he appears to be behaving himself and playing nice.

Thanks for jogging my faulty memory. Seeing some of those names sure brings back memories. I remember it was a big deal that Broznoski won the mens rr wearing a hard shell (Pro-tec!!) helmet.
