Well I'm clearly in the middle of the road <g>. Just have to watch out for incoming traffic. *smile* Just purchased a Zipp 404 tubular on the rear and a Mavic Kyserium SL tubular for the front. Sort of a balance between drag in the air and drag on my wallet. That and have decent braking up front and no concerns about crosswinds. But I gotta thing more of the racers here would prefer the Zipps due to their aero qualities at racing speeds.

I've been out of cycling for 30 years. Thinking of a Felt F55. Comes with Velomax SL Aero wheelset. I see no one has given a vote for them on the poll. If they are junk, should I just scrap the idea of the F55? Too much out of the wallet to upgrade...

Very responsive and strong, good looking things too.

If you are spending this much on wheels, don't skimp on tyres...

Check out something like the Vittoria Open Corsa EVO KS / KX TT 20mm and 23mm are avaialble and they combine well with high end wheels to squeeze that extra bit of performance.

You will need long valve tubes too.

Mavic definitely rocks!

I know it sounds daft but round ones that STAY round .
I don´t care how light or trick they are if you have to adjust them all the time they´re too light / too few spokes / etc .

I want a wheel that will stay round and keep on going that is also light.

My all time favourites continue to be the Wolber Super Champions - more current favs would be Ambrosio Excellights.

I've had Mavic Open Pro rims on my steel Rock Lobster since November 2000. Solid rims, great performance, strong rims. I am 6'8" 210 pounds, that likes to mash at times🙂 ... On my Serotta CDA I have Kyrium Elite just got it last September 2004 so far so good they sure look sweet the reports that I've heard and hearing are that they are exellent rims🙂

You may want to take a look at Campy's. I have a set of Protons that were cheap (< $400 new), fairly light for the price (1660 gms) and they are nice and stiff. I have heard great things about the Eurus and Neutrons as well.

Realistically: Mavic, Bontrager or Alex rims will keep you rolling.😎
