Which do u prefer?

I'm a roadie, although Track is something I'd like to try.

I have both MTB and road but prefer the feel of the road bike and the smooth cruise. The ultimate is to have a tail wind that is strong enough to offset the wind noise going by your helmet to the point you can hear your tires on the pavement and around 25 mph ,easy cruising,it don't get no better.

Love road biking the best although I own a mountain bike as well. Nothing beats the speed and smooth ride. I just love the sound of the tires on the pavement and chain spinning as well.

I started out MTB and rode for three years until a bad wreck had me riding scared. I bought a road bike and got hooked on the speed, the smooth motion, and the long, graceful lines you carve.

I bought a track bike to commute on recently. It's been the most fun I've had on a bike in years. Nothing will ever beat the road bike for the training ride, for the long, smooth ride -- but for the commute, the grind in traffic, the fun of it, the track bike is the bomb.

Road!!! I too started out doing crazy monkey mountain biking stuff in my 20's, and didn't feel like I'd had a good ride unless I returned home with a new bruise, or better yet raspberries, blood, or chainring scars.

Now that I'm in my 30's I'll take a peaceful quiet road excursion over the MTB antics any day... and save the (Dora the Explorer) band aides for my 2- and 3-year olds!

There's nothing like the open road. It looks as though many feel the same!

Wow! Didn't expect such a strong response in such a short time. So the roadies are the go hey? I'd better put in a word for the few Mountain Bikers, it's the adventure of riding through new places, niles from anyone that gets me. Using all ur concentration to stay upright while doing 15km/h on a foot wide singletrack! Never rode a road bike before, should try it one day. Well, keep the responses comeing. Maybe MTB can catch up 🙂

XC mountain biking. I never seem to get bored doing that, like what sometimes happens to me on long road rides. MTB orienteering is great fun too, for keeping yourself on your toes.

Road cycling is also cool, purely for the feeling of speed and total mechanical efficiency you get.

I'm with the "road group" all the way. What doesn't add up is the high percentage of "roadies" in the poll, and the high number of "Mountain Bikes" in the Bike Shops. Maybe the Road Bikes just last longer............mine is a custom-made Marinoni from 1978, and just as good as the day I bought it. I cashed in my Life Insurance Policy to buy it ...........byfred

My guess is that most of the mountain bikes are for adolescents and other people that aren't very "in" to cycling. It seems that low-end mountain bikes are much cheaper than low-end road bikes, and are a bit more comfortable, especially for the shorter rides that most of these people go on (ie commuting).

But track bikes have no brakes..... must be fun in traffic 😄

Train mainly on the road, but love to race the mountain bike.

Wow!

Isn't it strange that most bike shops, all "sporting good+bike" shops, and most cycling magazines cater entirely to MB and BMX kiddies?

I would love to one day walk into a shop and not see a single knobbie tire in the room... Most of the shops i've seen have either no road bikes at all or one or two hanging on the wall in the back.
