Another accolade for the 16T cog. I switched to riding a 12-25 (9-speed, 39/53T) since late May and on a long low grade or flats with a moderately strong headwind I find myself flipping back and forth from 15 to 17 and cursing a lot. I think I'm going to just get a 12-21 for more consistent rides and swap it back to the 12-25 for hillier days. (until I justify springing for 10-speed comps🙄 )

That's exactly what I was doing with my last (temporary) Shimano group w. 12-25, until I got back to Campy 10 w. 12-25 & 12-23.

Now it's nothin' but clear sailin', baby!

32-11 rear, 42/52/62 front. But then my wheels are small and my bike isn't a DF either!

12-23 9 speed in the rear, with a 30-42-52 up front.

You didn't list my favorite . . . the 12-21 Ultegra 9 speed. It's very flat here so I like the gear range to be fairly tight. I have a tripple up front for the occasional hill should I need it.

For me it's always been 12-25 that gets the most use.

Yeah. Having both the 16 and 18T cogs is very nice.
