What about Salsa Ala Carte Disk frame? It is a super frame made of high-tech steels (Reynolds

Don't know the exact European distributors, but there are plenty out there. For example, Derosa,
Pinarello, Pegoretti, Colnago, Gios & Bianchi all still do steel frames. As do Moser, Wilier, etc.

The Colnago Classic is a steel frame. I like their build quality, their geometry, and the colours.
Have not ridden Colnago steel since 1980, so I cannot say anything about this frameset. But I found:

St. Johns Street cycles in the UK makes very high quality steel frames under the Thorn name...mostly
touring bikes but their Cyclosportif is a long distance racing model, and their Brevet and Audax
models are eminently practical.

Not necessarily. Frames bought at the beginning of the season when the exchange ratio was close to
1:1 might be a bargain to someone exchanging Euros now to buy the frame in the US if the dealer did
not raise prices, also if the retailer, importer and/or manufacturer cut their margins to keep the
retail price steady despite the deteriorating exchange rate.
