The announcer said there was an incident with one of the teams that
did something nearly unsporting / illegal and when Lance passes them
he gives them a look and it propells him and gives him a boost from
the angry memory.
Can someone summarize or give a pointer. I didn't quite catch the
name.

It was Cofidis. Lance was riding for Cofidis when he was diagnosed with
cancer, and they dropped him. So no income, no insurance, etc. His
insurance was subsequently covered by Nike and Oakley and other sponsors,
and USPS came along, and the rest is history. (Par tof why he has stated
publicly that he will never leave Nike or Oakley, and whenever they ever
need something from him, all they have to do is ask. And when he won his
first race after cancer, and apssed the manager of Cofidis, he said
something to them along the lines of "that one was for you". He never
forgave Cofidis for this. And he sticks it to em whenever he has the
chance. A bunch of this is documented in "It's Not About the Bike".

Well, he is the Patron of the Tour. Kind of a visual /Plonk/ would
probably work, though sometimes he speaks his mind. A couple years back
Robbie McEwen took exception and suggested he fill Lance's mouth with
his fist.

Ah, cool. Thanks Dave. Sorry for the way dumb question. I had an
inkling of this but didn't connect the two from the OLN commentary,
since I walked into the room right at the end of it.

Very interesting that the dispute was over an alleged attack in a situation
when LANCE thought protocol dictated otherwise because LANCE would be unfairly
disadvantaged . . .

Lance has not and never will forget that Cofidis dropped him when he became
ill with cancer. I experienced this personally a couple years back, when I
was at a fairly small private function with some other bike dealers, with
Lance signing autographs. I brought along the photo I took on Alpe d'Huez
right after Lance did his famous "The Look" thing... (you can see a cropped
version of this photo at http://www.chainreaction.com/france2001.htm).
What's not too clear in the cropped version of the photo is that the guy in
the floppy white hat is wearing a Cofidis jersey. Lance looks at the photo,
looks again, makes a nasty expression while he pretends to put a big "X"
through the the guy in the Cofidis jersey before finally signing it.
I wished he *had* slashed out the guy in the Cofidis jersey... would have
made it a true one-of-a-kind momento!

Cofidis probably assumed that lance being americans he can be treated like most
americans companies treats workers regarding insurances.

No it was because the Cofidis managers were scum bags. Nevertheless,
dropping Lance has to be the biggest cycling business goof in history.
That one decision changed cycling history for ever. Because of it an
American rider, riding for an American team, has dominated the Tour
for six years and I don't see why Lance couldn't do it a seventh time
next year.
Talk about revenge.

What makes you think that Lance could have won the Tour if he raced for
