When and where will occur the first post-tour alleged sports-journalist
claim that Lance is not an athlete?

I forgot who the dork was last year.

Are there any skills involved in sawing a branch in two with an ELECTRIC
chainsaw? It's on ESPN, and I don't see how that's a sport. Also,
stock car driving (lift the gas and turn left, straighten wheel and
gently gas, repeat a couple of hundred times), poker, chess, and others.

Some group in England was petitioning for Contract Bridge to be added to
the Olympics.
Maybe it's got something to do with all that kicking under the table...

Seriously? What a dumb argument for anyone to make, especially a
sports-journalist. They should know better. I'd like to see certain
Major League Baseball "athletes" (pitchers) try riding the TdF route
without dying after the first 10km. Now I'm going to go hunt down the
past articles from the geniuses who say riders aren't athletes.

Stock car racing requires more athleticism than you think. Constant
use of the arms to turn an extremely heavy car...it sounds a lot more
strenuous than you think. Also, drivers must be accustomed to
temperatures of up to 130-140 (I forget the maximum) degrees
Farenheit. They probably have to be more athletic (not in better
physical condition since F1 and indy car drivers should ideally be
skinny) condition than any other type of car racer. That said, I'd
generally agree with the contention that race car drivers are not
atheletes...but I would consider it a sport.
That said, anyone who would say that cyclists are not atheletes is
clueless.

There's a group in the States pushing for Poker in the Olympics too.
I had to laugh.

Baseball players are not atheletes. I love the game, and Ive played
organized ball, but with few exceptions, it takes skill and practice,
not intense training, to play baseball. In my mind that is the
measure of an athelete.
Antecdote: Several years ago I watched a big fat pitcher (can't
remember his name...I think he was a S.F. Giant) throw a no-hitter
into the seventh inning against my beloved Pirates (don't rub it in).
Somehow he got on base, and for some ludicrous reason was told to
steal second...he was not successful.
Anyways, after the 90 foot dash he looked like he was gonna collapse.
When he returned to the mound he was still exhausted and the Pirates
just teed off on him. IMHO Any sport in which such a person can play
on a professional level does not qualify as an athletic event.
The American sports media as a whole is very very very very ignorant about
the sport in general and specifically the UCI Mens' Elite. They seem to
"appease but endure" during 3 weeks in July.

Already has, this morning in my local paper. Not quite, actually; but
pretty close:
To their credit, they also ran a nice article on a local rider, 30+ Masters
Nat'l RR Champ Eddy Hilger.
From the home of the Three State Three Mountain Challenge; one of my
favorite rides.

What about playing instruments? Lot more strenuous than one thinks.
