Whats the widest 26" mtb tire?

Some tandems have tires which approach that dimension. Are your rims
wide enough to accommodate them?

That size is usually seen on downhill MTBs. Quality Bicycle Products

The Nokian Gazzaloddi 3.0 tires were the biggest until Surly went nuts with
the Pugsley tires. Max recommended pressure is 29psi. These big tires are
really heavy though. Sheldon says they're not too bad.

OP here,

Thanks for the recomendations. Looks like the snowcats or surly large marges
with one of their huge tires look like the way to go if they would fit in my
frame.

I've just started a new thread about bikes specifically made for snow (like
the surly pugsy) and was wondering if anyone know of any other bike/frame
out there made to be used with such wide tires. You can respond in the
thread above if you do know of any...
