Whatever happened to me

than map and compass or not.

Maybe I'll return to the fray later - and, of course, I would appreciate
it if someone could let me know of any planned expeditions.

Martin - very sorry to hear that. Having just been through my wife
having cancer over the last year or so (although, selfishly, thankfully
it was caught in the primary stage) I can understand some of the pain
you must be going through. And it most certainly does put a new
perspective on priorities.

Along with, I'm sure, every one else in here can I wish you the best for
the time you have together. I'm sure you'll make the most of of it you
can.

Martin, I'm very sorry to hear that; I'd hoped she was
recovering from her last bout of illness (a while back now -
at least a year, if not more?) Know that we are here for you
as and when needed. If you want to discuss things there is a
supportive crowd over on alt.support.cancer who will offer
advice, sympathy and hugs in abundance.

Thanks for all the kind replies both here and by e-mail. I've shown them
to Bev and she is touched by the friendship shown by people that she has
never met or even 'talked' to.

As for walking - we are trying to visit as many bits of coastline as we
can weather and treatments permitting - not sure we'll cover the full
10,000 miles. Best bits so far - Circuit of the Great Orme and
Flamborough Head. Spurn Point ruined by the officious jobsworth who
wouldn't even allow us to drive to the point with the dogs in the car.

Interestingly enough, despite her condition she is still able to outwalk
the general tourists we see. For example, we got cut off by the tide on
Filey Brigg and had to scramble up the cliff face - most of the other
daytrippers barely moved 500 metres from their cars.
