What wheels should I get

Your big problem is going to be finding wheels that have hubs compatible with a 6 speed uniglide cassette, which is probably more than 12 years old.That assumes you have a cassette rather than a freewheel.

I know I am a newbie. What are the difference between a casette and a freewheel.

I am about certain mine is a freewheel especially since the bike is a 12 speed and is probably a 1990 or older bike. Here is a link to 3 pics I took last night. One thing I do know it has a Suntour accushift x-1500 rear derailer and a suntour front derailer. The crankset is a Sugino VP110. I replace the 42 chainring with a 38 to give me a better low gear.

If it's index shifting,you run into even more problems if you want to keep it index. Change one part,and you get to change some others.Old suntour has more issues than old Shimano Index.

I do have index shifting. All I really need is new wheels. That should not affect my index shifting or would it. All of my components work fine. Thanks

If you have a freewheel which can typically be removed with the correct tool(I had one that was impossible),and put on a new wheel that has a freeheel hub,you are golden.
