What was your first car?

what a funny thread. mine was a green 1978 two door dodge diplomat. 318 motor.

Given to me - Fiat 124. Think of a rectangle with 4 doors on wheels. Drove it until it died - about a year after I got it. Epitomy of a "hooptie".

I bought - 77 Triumph TR7. Loved that "black hole for money". The flying wedge. "The shape of things to come" as I recall the marketing slogan. That thing gobbled up all my spending money and then some...loved it when it ran, which was about 40% of the time I owned it...British electronics - 'nuff said😠...

First car I owned was left to me before I had a license. A 1974 Chrysler Valiant. Huge beast of a thing which I never actually got to drive, it ended up at the wreckers.

First car I brought was a 1982 Holden Gemini (Isuzu made them) which was a stupid ghey thing that like to swap ends going around corners when it rained. I instead should have brought the lift back Torana with the 4.2 litre V8 that was for sale at the time...... although I if I had I might not be writing this now.:p

The story goes that the car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro saw one at a motor show somewhere. He walks around it, and made some vague comment about the scalloped out door. Then he walks around to the other side and exclaims 'oh no, they have done it on this side as well!' 😄

1965 Mustang convertible. I still miss it.

Volkswagon Jetta 1983 (Jetta was the precursor to the Passat).

It was red and it went for ever and ever...............

I miss it too and I never even owned it!

First car was a 1972 Barracuda, the ex-family car. The first car I bought was a 1976 Nova w/ three on the column. It got the same gas mileage whether there was oil in the engine or not. At one point, the horn malfunctioned and for two weeks it would intermittently blow, sometimes for short toots, other times for an entire drive. That was fun.

1980 Chevy Citation.

Didn't have a lot of balls with the 2.8L V6 engine, but got me from point A to point B, and was for the most part easy to fix. Front-wheel drive also did very well in snow.

My first street car was a 1972 MG-B. Orange paint with wire wheels. I drove it for 11 years and then a friend talked me into selling to him. That car was a blast.

First track car was a 1969 Chevy Nova SS 396. It was a blast too, although in a different way than the MG. 🙂

LOL! So funny, it's gotta be true!
I loved that little car. Put dual Weber carbs on it, a header, changed cams, etc...Got it down to about 9secs in 0-60😄. 2 liter - 122ci inline 4 could only do so much back then. With that car I learned very well the phrase "necessity is the mother of invention" aka, when the car broke down and I didn't have money to fix it, I had to learn how to fix it myself - and learn I did.

It was a small car but had amazing leg room. It was great when it ran, but I'd be willing to give up my new BMC bike for a TR8 though...and I'm deadly serious about that...TR8s almost make my bladder let loose😉...

my second car was as well a junker, dodge k-series four cyclinder wagon. those k-series weren't built to last so to speak and it blew up instantly, head.

The first car that I drove was a 1971 Nova.....a four door with a 250cu inch inline six cylinder. It belonged to my father but he only drove his pick up so I got free use of the car except for gas and maintenance. It was OK, not great.

The first car I owned was a 1975 Toyota Corolla with a 1600 cc four cyclinder engine. This car lasted 300,000 miles before I was rear ended by a kid in a Camaro and pushed into a Ford LTD. The car was mashed on both ends so it was time to retire it. I sold it to a friend and he used the drive train for a kit car. The Toyota was a great car, easy to work on and it got over 30 MPG on the highway. Maintenance was a breeze. I removed, rebuilt, and reinstalled the carberator (I think there is supposed to be a "u" in there somewhere) while I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for a freind to get off work. The only weak point on the car was that the clutch plates only lasted 100,000 miles or so before they gave out, but they were easy to replace as long as you had an alignment tool. It was hell without it.

The first car I brought was a 1998 SS Commodore. It was the super charged version, pretty stupid considering I had held a drivers license for less than a year. We still have it, its an absolute heap of junk like all Commodore's, good for towing a horse float but nothing else 😄

My first car was a German 1988 Wartburg in Poland, and driving illegaly at the age of 14. 🙂

My first car was a 1951 Henry J, gree with red plaid seats(ugly)

If the temp got below freezing, the gas line would freeze up(dry gas didn't help)
Got 35 miles to the gallon and at the time I was paying 27 cents a gal for gas.
The cars that followed were a 57 Chevy Bel-Air, 58 Impala 283 stick
2dr hrdtp, 64 Chevy Nova SS. Then I got married, and no more hot cars.

'66 Bug, Sea Blue, paid cash from my part time job the day I got my DL in NJ.

Wish I had that car back today....

The first car I ever owned was a green 1970 Chevy Nova. I was 18 and I bought it for $3,000 and owned it for about 15 years. The car I traded it for was carp.
