  1. Why would someone give up the chance to wind surf and ride your Serrota,
for a job that is 24 / 7 for an ungrateful bunch. Kerry wanted to relieve
Bush of the hard work, but I'd be willing to help Kerry relieve Teresa of
her billion bucks while riding and wind surfing in exotic worldwide
    locations.

It is a simple fact that ANYONE who would pursue that job has an ego
that's even larger than my own.

There was a school of thought that he would lose the seat since NC has been
    trending GOP.

Why do people spend millions and millions for a job that pays $400K per
year? makes no sense from a financial standpoint. However, the perks are
    pretty freakin' cool.

Makes all the sense in the world, because the guy collecting the public
paycheck generally ain't the one coughing up the millions to get it. That
comes from the folks who know that the guy who collects the small check gets
to write a lot of BIG ones. The more redistributionist tax and fiscal
policies are, the more it behooves interest groups to pump big money into
elections. Hell; they'd be negligent if they didn't.

    Clinton certainly thought so.
