  1. Hi
My NG Server--at least one of the two--is often quite a ways behind in
the posts it produces. The other--news.individual.net--while much more
up to date, is now moving to a fee based service.

While I do not mind paying for the service, the server my ISP
provides-the one I already pay for- is the one that is behind.
The news.individual.net would be a second one to pay for, and, if I am
going to pay again, I am looking for the most reliable one for the best
    price.

    Hence, this post.

I would appreciate any and all information and experiences.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Wow, that $12/year they want to charge sure makes it a critical buying
    decision!

This post is completely offtopic. Just because you read this newsgroup
from a usenet server doesn't make it topical. Why don't you go ask in
alt.free.newservers or somewhere else that's relevant to the topic?

I'd be glad to share mine with you in the appropriate group. This isn't
    it.

I've been with Newsguy since about 1998 and have been very happy with
    them.

Me, too. It's $40/yr for the basic Newsguy plan, and includes groups
that individual.net doesn't have (binaries), as well as a couple of
free email addresses, and excellent spam-filtering for the news and
    email.

Try x-privat.org. The site is in English and Italian. It's free and works
great. :-) Another freebie is shared-secrets.com, check them out.

I use teranews - one time 3.95 payment and then it's free. Up to 50
megs a day, which since I don't do binaries, is plenty! I've been using
teranews for about 5 months now, has worked great the whole time.

My aren't we in a [censored] mood.....

  10. news.central.cox-net. Hope I don't sound [censored].

Also use Outlook Express for the access.

Not sure what I'll do tomorrow. A girlfriend couldn't find my number, and
ended up calling my dad. She thought he was me, he didn't know who she was,
and my mother was [censored] about the whole thing. I suspect I will catch hell
from my Dad tomorrow, and I didn't do anything.

    Hi
I have tried the teranet and it seems fine. Meanwhile my cable company
says their service will get better.....I have to keep reminding myself
    they are a cable company.....

I also use msnnews and it seems fine for some groups--this one not being
    one!

The x-private server also seems OK. Its current message count for this
group is at 3565(basically from about March 1st) while the teranews is
at 10269(basically from Feb 1st). My cable company server shows from Feb
19th to April 9th...agent does not provide a total message count, at
least as far as I can see and I use that software for that account.

FYI too. I still have not decided. To me this is important as I think
usenet is the best part of the internet....people helping people, as
    they say.

    Thanks for the time.
    joe
