I was up in the Dales last weekend and did two nice bimbles, one nearish
Malham Tarn and one on Grassington Moor. I picked up two sheeps horns,
not a pair, really quite near paths, if not the regular heavily trampled
paths. It is IMO surprising that nobody picked them up before.
They had rotted off the head losing strong core, so they are largely hollow
and not strong. As I use a pair of thumbsticks while walking, sticks would
seem to be ruled out.
Any ideas?

If you get them really hot in boiling water, you can slowly squeeze them until
they close up. It takes a few goes to completely do the job but they are
surprisingly pliable when hot. Then you are into walking stick handles and
such.
A sheep's horn you can use it to scratch an itchy back. Very handy.
