i really like plums. so when costco had a big ol' box of plums for (like) $5 i grabbed it. uhm... there's like 20+ plums in there! i eat about 1 or 2 a day. i'm afraid that more than half of them will rot before i get to them. so i'm asking for any good recipes (or other uses! 🙂 ) for these plums.

Plum Clafuttie. Macerate sliced plums in brandy and then play them in the bottom of a buttered baking dish. Cover with Clafutti batter and bake.

You don't say what kind of plums... but no matter, if they are good fresh plums I'd eat them all fresh... plums keep very well refrigerated. Twenty fresh plums is like three-four snacks... they're nice diced into a bowl of vanilla ice cream... a big blob of whipped cream can't hurt.

Take the seeds out of the ones you can't get to and dry them.
Makes prunes. ;-)
They can also be canned or made into jam/jelly.

A plum [censored] is lovely. A local restaurant that I love serves theirs warm with cinnamon ice cream. Mmmm...I have made one before, and it was good, but not as good as the restaurants. Epicurious has a boatload of plum recipes -- lots of crisps, [censored], tortes, crumbles, and some savory recipes. If I had that many plums, I'd spend some time looking through the plum recipes on epicurious, and try one that has sounds tempting and has gotten great reviews.

Get a box of SureJell (pectin), a bag of sugar, and maybe a lemon, and make plum jam. I don't recall how many pounds of chopped plums it takes, but probably only about 3 or 4. The recipe is inside the box. I made jam with some of those big juicy black plums with the yellow flesh last year (bought them on sale at the supermarket and had too many to eat fresh), and it turned out lovely.

Ed Kim, if you have a copy of "Emeril's New New Orleans Cooking", there's a baby back ribs recipe(baked); which uses plums. Made it a few years ago, and they were quite tasty and easy to prepare. Great ribs for the plum lover. Worth a look see.

Apple, Peach, or Plum Cake Cockaigne. (this latter word is JOC code for 'one of our family favourites'😉 I like Italian plums the best in the recipe, but nectarines were cheap and ripe, so this is what I used: Dough: 1 cup all purp flour, sifted sift again with 1 teas baking powder 1/4 teas salt 2 T sugar
work in 1 1/2-3 T butter
In a measuring cup, break an egg. Beat well, add 1/2 teas vanilla and then enough milk to make 1/2 C total. Press this dough into a greased 9 or 10 inch round pan Cover with 4 cups sliced fruit Over this sprinkle 1 cup white or brown sugar 2 teas cinn (I much prefer 'true cinn' for this) 3 T melted butter. Bake at 425 F for 25 minutes. I find it takes longer, or the cake in the middle may be rawish. We had some vanilla ice cream with it.
