  1. Hi, i'm thinking of getting a new mountain bike and wondering what size frame i should get based on
    height and weight. I'm a 165 pound male, who's 5 feet, 10 inches. I can get 16, 18, 20, 22 frames.
    Suggestions?

    Thanks.

Most likely 18", but you really should sit on/test ride them first.

Ride them and see what feels best!

  4. Your weight won't be a factor, but your inseam will be. My guess is the 18" or possibly the 20"
will fit you best. But if your legs are abnormally long or short, you might be best fitted to one
of the others. Like the other said, try them out. Start out by first standing over them--obviously
if there isn't plenty of room for your nads, it's too big. Any bicycle shop person should be able
    to help you out.

  5. What's your inseam?

    29"-30" 18" 31"-32" 19" 33"-34" 20"

The numbers above are a general guide. You want about 3" between your crotch and the top tube.

Oof. That would put me on a 20" frame, and into a world of hurt if I tried riding it off-road. FWIW,
    I'm 5'10", have a 33" inseam and fit just fine on a 17" c-t frame. In fact, I fit just fine on a 15"
as well if I put a really long seat post on it.

The way I approach fit on a MTB is to figure out the necessary "cockpit length", and then fit the
rider on the smallest frame that will achieve that length using a stem in the "right range".
Obviously it can be more complicated (i.e. the rider needs a very upright position or only rides
asphalt), but extra standover height is a good thing.
