Whereas, prior to today, I'd say most folks (including myself) were thinking Lance to be quite vulnerable, as he's suffered a lot in this year's tour. Now, however, it appears Lance is back on form and has made it through the worst.
Psychologically speaking, what does this do to Lance's competitors? While I wouldn't say Ullrich is out of it yet (anything can happen), he's got to be saying to himself "[censored]! Lance has recovered", which can't make him feel too good about his chances. Anyone... Jeff

Ullrich is thinking "bad luck, but there is nothing wrong with my shape"

He's probably thinking "Why does it have to be a rest day tomorrow!". Lance is bound to be sore after today and he might suffer a reaction to all the effort he expended today.

And if tomorrow were not a rest day, would Armstrong have spent the same effort? And if there had been no TTT...

Hell yeah. Of course.
If Ulrich was as great as Lance. Did not have the troubled personal life (drugs, driving drunk). Maybe he would have been on a better team that could of beat Postal. Everyone knew that there was a TTT in the Tour. Why was Ulrich's team so weak? Do not blame Lance for having a superior team over Ulrich. That is whatit takes to win the Tour. As for the final ITT, like Ulrich can repeat his performance.....

I agree. If Urlich had ever looked like a fully serious bike rider after 1997 then he would have been on a quality team like telekom or CSC...Either of those teams could have been at the level of USPS with Jan. Jan could have also helped his case if he didn;t have an entourage as big as Puffy Combs's. Ulrich is actually lucky to be in the tour at all this year, but I will say that he has a lot of class and that his performance this year is incredible after so many problems.

You are correct. It is disappointing for me to watch someone wth so much talent throw it away on a troubled personal life. As for being luck to be in the Tour. He was on another team that folded and "Beonki" (sp?), took over. If that other team had not folded. Thatteam might not have made the Tour. Ulrich has good sportmanship because he has to. Would have looked awful if he did not wait for Lance. As Lnce has waited for him on numerous occasions....

Damn. I had him. I might still have him, but let's be real. We'll see how the ITT works out.
Oh well. For this being a Training Tour, I can't complain.

WTF are you two talking about? About the teams matter, Ullrich could've got in nearly _any_ team he wanted, and most of them would gladly have taken him as a potential leader and GC contender. Even USPS offered him to ride for them (though not as the team leader, lol). Riis was actually quite [censored] that Jan choose not to join CSC.
About the sportsmanship stuff, Jan was IIRC the only one who did not want to attack after Beloki crashed, although he knew it would hurt him in the GC, because Vino was gaining time on them.

All that I am stating is that Ulrich is not as good as Lance. It has been proven over the last four years. If Ulrich was great, why does he not have 3-4 titles? Also his personal life is not as clean as Lance. All of these things make agreat champion.......

Not last year and not yet this year.

World Champion TdF Vuelta (when will I see Lance *just* race that late in the year?) Olympic Champion

So ... MJ is not a great champion? Babe Ruth is not a great champion? Magic Johnson is not a great champion? Get the point? Unless you have lived a flawless life (and you are certainly not the judge on that), shut up and don't try to value the life of others. You don't even have the guts to use your real name.

I thought it was Team Beloki. Wasn't Ullrick riding in support of Beloki, or vice versa?

Anyone riding for Binaca is cleaner than Sooperman!
