  1. Can you identify the maker of this 3-Speed Hub?
    It's similar to an old Sturmey-Archer with the indicator chain in the
    center of the axle.
    The symbol looks like three fancy number '3's.

    If you know who the manufacturer is, let me know.

    judging by the patent#, it appears to be a shimano.

    Shimano, late sixties to seventies most likely. Not that sturdy, but
    pretty decent if you don't abuse it. As far as I know, you can't get
    cables for them anymore, but you can mod a S/A cable to sorta work.
