  1. Sorry for the newbie question, but what is Freeride, and how does it
    differ to XC?

    Thanks

Freeride involves going upside down and dropping off of things. Big things.

Seems im missing out on the upside down bit.

Freeride is just a glorified name for what most of us have been doing for
years - riding from fun play spot to fun play spot and attempting anything
vaguely insane and generally having a good time.

XC leads more to the fitness side of things, continuous riding, bla bla -
freeride is just messing about lol.

I think FR as an adaptation of people buying DH bikes but using them for
riding stunts and riding off of big 15' or bigger drops. Like riding off of
your house and jumping 20' or more gaps.

I am one of the few guys who are into it in this NG.

One requires mt dew for hydration, the other requires water for hydration.

And don't for a moment think that the rest of us aren't keeping a VERY careful
    eye on you... ;-)

Freeriders are XC's who have been drawn to the Darkside.

Yeah, the last one is DEAD.

Who was that I didn't know him or her? Personally I am a VFW and I have
seen my fair share but I believe there is no such thing as death just a
transition. I would use entropy as an analogy for this.

Do you believe in permanent death? Do you believe there is more that our 5
senses and 4 (maybe 5) dimensions allow us to perceive. I do and I believe
at some point we were all once one and we will be again Mike.

Riding to me is like surfing or hiking is to some people... flow, bliss
whatever it is it allows us to transcend peek into something deeper.

    Antipodes of existence.

I wish for you peace and prosperity.

I think I like this explanation best.

  12. Thanks everyone for such a comprehensive explanation.

Sounds just like what my mates and I were doing with those big heavy
    motorbike-style suspended BMX's in the early 80's.

    Hey JD,

Have you hugged your kid today, this week, this month, this year?
