What is caponata and how do you make it?

It's very highly flavored and sweetish/sourish. Ratatouille is savory and
vegetabley -- or a rat that cooks.

Hmmm... now that you mention it, they really are very similar. So *my*
answer would be that one is Italian, and one is a movie. Ooops, I mean
French!
(do go see the movie if you haven't yet, by the way!)

Ratatouille has bell peppers, zucchini and eggplants with tomatoes.
Caponata is made only with eggplants.

Like the difference between genoa and hebrew national salami... both
salami, but...
