New Old Stock. That's original equipment, new ( often in original packing) from long ago, as opposed
to "used" or "replica".--

New Old Stock. That's original equipment, new ( often in original packing) from long ago, as
opposed to "used" or "replica".And still in original packaging is NIB ("new in the box"😉.

Maybe it's a Network Operating System that's Not Otherwise Specified.
For looking up acronyms, www.acronymfinder.com is a good place to start.

It's very interesting to enter your initials and see what you are an acronym for!

What does NOS stand for?
Although NOS means "new, old stock", it does not mean that the stock is in perfect condition.
Sometimes, NOS stuff is out of the package/box and loose in a drawer or on the shelf, and thereby
gets marked/dinged a bit.Often, sellers will indicate if the item is NIP or NIB("new in package" or "new in box"
respectively). This usually means the item is in factory original condition.I always ask the seller to confirm that the item is undinged/scratched, etc. Most are happy
to do this.HTH
