replaced standard saddle on my cube with a selle smp its abit larger and has a significant cut out section running the full lenght of the saddle allso the nose tips down this has made a huge difference in comfort for me as im a biggish rider bone wise think the old saddle was just to small for me ...did a seven mile climb last sunday sitting all the way this would nt been possible with old saddle i would certainly recomend trying a cut out saddle to relieve pressure

Hod, have you been on one of your longer rides with that new Selle saddle yet?
If I remember correctly you like to do some rides that are over 60 miles and you were experiencing a lot of discomfort on those longer rides....

Selle SMP seems to satisfy a fair number of riders, although from what I've read, they appear to be very sensitive to setup. They certainly have polarizing looks, but I think they look tons better than Brooks saddles. Eh, it's not like anyone sees a saddle when you're on it, anyway.

They look better then Brooks? The Selle looks very generic to me, just like ton of other saddles out there. But, it's not the looks that's important, it's how it feels when riding on it.

what!? the selle SMP is not generic at all, it has a very unique shape. My Cobb saddle is vary similar to shape of the SMP. I tested an SMP a while back and it felt like I was sitting on two rulers on their edges. I know they have like 12 different models so maybe I just tested the wrong one. I dont have a LBS that has a SMP test program though.
I have 6 months to try this cobb soddle and still return it for a full refund. I'm gonna give it some time and if I dont like it, I will send it back and try the specialized phenom. -

Just keep in mind that you're only given one gouch at birth. Take care of it. You won't get another.

Some even have a little inflatable pocket so you cna pump to get the right pressure feel. This will only really work with the numbness part.
As far as the chafing goes, your bibs might be:
a) to loose
b) the chamois sow pattern to low, and thus the rubbing. You might be putting too much wieght on the seat. have you tried peddaling in a lower cadence so you put most of your weight on your legs?

I think you're going to run into the same problem, regardless how much money you spend on a pair of shorts/bib/whatever. Just take a few minutes to stop and walk around to get some air circulating.
What if I'm in a 60-mile race (roughly 3-3.5 hrs), and if I stop to walk around I'll finish last ?? 🙂
Also, if you do invest in some higher-end bib shorts (that are good for you), you should not run into the same problems, just IMHO...😉
