As I am new to this great sport, I wanted to ask what you all carry when your ride. I'm in the process of getting my gear together and want to make sure I don't miss anything. Any and all help will be appreciated.😎

tiny hand-drawn map
water
tooth brushi'm used to having a b.o.b. on the back, so it feels great to have no back-pack.

Nothing 🙂 (I generally ride places with water fountains). I enjoy riding more when unencumbered. The except to this is my phone and some money
However what I would carry if I had my act together:
Water
Puncture repair kit
1x Allen key (almost everything on the bike uses the same size)
Map (if riding somewhere I'm not familar with)
Camera (but that's just because I'm a bit of an amateur photographer 🙂.)
Mobile phone.
Money. Can't be stuffed bringing my whole wallet, too big and heavy. A $20 note on the other hand... 🙂.Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

Don´t forget the PUMP !!!!
I don´t use a repair kit, I go with a back up tube.

Depends on where you ride, location and distance. I hate carrying/using a hydrapak, so all my stuff goes into the jersey pockets. On the longer rides in summer I use the hydrapak, but pretty much carry the same things.
On a 'general' ride out in the bush, I carry
multi-tool - with all necessary allen keys, a screw driver, chain breaker and torx key for the disc brakes
a spare tube and tyre levers if needed
pump
patch repair kit if I'm going out far
food/energy bar depending on length of rideFor a race, I carry:
multi-tool
spare tube and tyre levers if needed
CO2 cartridgeIf you're just riding around the city, probably add to that (the first list) some money and a mobile phone. As an ABSOLUTE minimum, make sure you take a pump, tube and a multi-tool.

I take a camelbak and a small seattube bag
In the seat tube bag
- spare tube
- puncture repair kit with two tubes of glue and emery paper and 2 spare powerlink connectors
- tyre repair kit*
- chain breaker
- 2 x tyre levers
- small trek multi toolIn the camelbak
- another spare tube
- spare pair of socks
- keys, wallet etc
- 3 litres of water
- energy bars/ gels/ mars bars/whatever
- roll of electrical tape
- small first aid kit
- map if I don't know the route
- CHARGED mobile phone (switched off otherwise) for emergenciesTaped to the frame
- pumpI know this may sound like a lot but packed down it is quite light and is not substancially heavier or bulky in relative to the weight of water being carried which you NEED. It is always best to be prepared for most evetualities, especially when you do solo rides. The spare pair of socks is a godsend because I have found from miserable experience there is nothing worse than having squelchy wet feet all day if you go through a ford or get caught in the rain. Electrical tape is useful for aiding in tyre repairs and if you rip your saddle which has happened to me before. Because I am still on V brakes, I occassionally take a new set of blocks (not in the packaging) in case I eat through a pair.
If I am riding with a friend one set of the above usually suffices except for the water and socks. 2 tubes between 2 of us is generally ok.
* This is a nifty way of repairing your tyres using an old toothpaste tube (preprepared, a carpet needle and carpet thread/ dental floss) that works really well if you trash a tyre sidewall. Will prevent the replacement/repaired tube from blowing out. Details on how to make this and procedure are explained at MTB Britain.com. Do it. You will thank me for it one day! 😉

Wedgepack:
- Spare Tube
- Puncture repair kit (glue, patches, paper, chalk, levers etc)
- Alien II multitool (everything you should need except 13mm spanner)
- Cleansing wipe and a few assorted plasters
Belt Bag (karrimor raid 5):
- Packaway waterproof
- Map (if I'm away from familiar territory)
- Keys (lock and car/house)
- Leatherman
- Sunglasses (or clear glasses depending which ones are on my head)
- Energy bar or chocolate (for a sugar fix if needed)
- 2 water bottles
- Pack of tissues (do mountain bikers s*** in the woods?)
Frame:
- Lock
- Pump
Pocket:
- Wallet containing: Beer tokens (pounds sterling) and cash card, and an emergency contact number (just in case)
- Mobile
It seems like a lot but its what I class as essential. I don't think any serious rider should go any distance without basic tools (allen keys/spanner etc). you may think that everthing is nice and tight, but stuff can and will shake loose, and you can almost bank on at least one puncture from time to time.

Being in Texas, for any lengthy ride I carry a hydration backpack, with pump, tools, and a spare. Thought about carrying a gun, but afraid I'd use it. Always carry my cell phone.
In the heat, two bottles just won't cut it on a long ride. I also always keep some money with me, and have an old driver's license I usually carry for id purposes. -

Different type of riding 😉. Although I believe the SAS carry condoms as a means of collecting/transporting water in emergencies. -

I just can't justify carrying the extra weight of a large club or 2x4 with a nail through it, otherwise I would 😉

In my backpack I carry a 2 litre camelbag, wallet, cell phone(in water tight ziplock bag), car keys, spare tube, tube patches, co2 inflator, tire levers, and a multi-tool. I carry the multi-tool becasue I am always adjusting things and the patches are incase I come across someone on the trail that blew a tire and did not have a spare. I have also used my multi-tool to help someone tighten down their handle-bars. So I guess you can say some of the stuff is for other riders that are less prepared.
