  1. With my new purchase I am no longer in need of my old bike. A good friend
really wants to buy it, I threw out $500 off the top of my head and he
quickly agreed. But, as this guy is a good friend I don't want to rip him
off. Negative opinions of GTs held by respected residents of AM-B
notwithstanding, what do you think would be a fair price?

    2000 Medium GT XCR2000 I-(Don't)Drive
    XT rear deraileur
    LX front derailer
Brand new XT cassette and chain
    XT Shifters
    Koski V-Brakes and levers
    SID 100mm fork
IRC Mythos XC tires with a fair amount of tread left

Frame has expected number of dings for being five years old, no major
crashes. Components have been very well maintained. The bike rides just as
well as the day I bought it. I bought it new for $2,100.00

Thanks for all replies, even the flames. I wouldn't expect anything less
from you bunch of lunatic hooligans.

You don't mention wheels, but $500 sounds pretty fair.

Considering eBay completed auctions, there were two (one just a frame
with some bits like a FSA headset and another full bike almost identical
to yours. The frame sold for $180, the full bike got as high as $350
but didn't meet the reserve. I'd say $500 is a little too high.

Let him have it for a week for evaluation. If he likes it enough, he'll
pay, and you won't feel like your ripping him off.

Absolutely, especially if this weather holds. I don't want to be out there

I did mention to him that he should try it out before commiting, he seems to
be comfortable paying for it... when he gets the money.

Unfortunately he doesn't drink, so the brew might have to be of the root
variety. Better than nothing I guess ;-)

Where are you going? How's Chip doing by the way? He's been laying low of

No plans as yet. SJT or SART would be fun; stay tuned.

ChIpPy's doing his thing -- we hooked up for a ride at Daley Ranch months
ago -- sort of rolling (to) his own...(drummer).

    Enjoy the new boing-boing!

I get it, "daunting" as in "milestone". I won't ask. Give Chip a "Ya mon"
    from me.

  16. $1600 new maybe for green.one like my friend did. So
now I would say no less then 400. Or free and make him buy the beer
    after every ride.
