  1. Hi All,

I have a pointless unanswerable question to pose:

Were I to move back to the US, what Cat racer could I expect to become
at my present Fatty Master level? How does the standard differ between
East and West coast? In particular LA nd NYC. I am 36. Once upon a time
I made it to Cat III about 15 years ago.

Now I ride centuries and club races. I can manage 40km/h for a 10km TT
on a regular bike with no aero bars on a good day. My W/kg seems to be
about 4.1. Assuming I'm not an idiot who pulls a whole Cat 5 pack to
the line to get beaten in the sprint every time, what sort of results
could I consider? How far and how fast could I progress up the Cat
    scale?

You can increase 1mph on downhills for every 5lbs you gain.
I can send you a training plan to accomplish this goal!

I'm already pretty maxed out in the weight department. I'll have to try
some other plan. At least I'm doing something right!

    According to Andy Coggan's power tables, 16.02; 8.20; 4.62; 4.00 are the
5 second, 1 minute, 5 minute and 20 minute W/kg power outputs of a mid
level Cat 2 racer. At 36, one would expect to be able to perform close
    to full potential.

Eh, sign up as a cat 4 if you can. If you're more properly a cat 3,
    you'll cat up.
