  1. Right then. I'll start by saying that message boards scare me and I usually avoid them. I tend to
see a lot off abusive people on them, saying stuff like "look through the threads" and "why don't
you do some research" so if I offend anyone by posting this then I do apologise. I'm just after a
bit of advice, that's all. Last year I bought myself a Marin Bobcat Trail since I really wanted to
start getting into mountain biking and I knew my £99 bike wouldn't be up for the job. So I bought my
Marin and started doing some trails. I'm quite into it now, I don't go on a trail every week (I
don't have the time) but I am going quite a lot and I'm starting to think this Marin isn't up to it.
I'm a large lad, 6.2" and around 14.5 stone (don't know that in pounds, sorry) and I don't think
it's coping too well. I've had to replace a few things on it like the crank, back wheel, cassette,
etc. However, it's probably my own fault because I've started going down the local BMX track on it
and doing some jumps. Nothing spectacular (I'm 29 and 'aint as brave as I was when I was 15!) but
I'm doing OK. So.....I'm thinking about upgrading. I still want to do trails but I also want to do
some jumps. I'm far from being an expert so I don't need the best by any means, I just want
something that can handle what I want to do. Has anybody got any suggestions? I was looking at the
Specialized Stumpjumper, P3 or Orange Missile. They look class. But, there is another important
factor. MONEY!!!!! I 'aint rich by any means so I was looking for either second hand or previous
year models. Cheers for any advice.

The Stumpjumper is a pure XC frame really, the P3 is a better choice. The missile is pretty
expensive but would also be a good choice. To advise more, are you after a full bike or just a
frame?, are you looking at full-sus bikes or hardtail? On a limited budget you will get better VFM
from a hardtail and it will be more suited to blasts around the BMX track. One initial suggestion I
would make is the DMR swichback which is designed with riders like you (and possibly me..) in mind,
but I think it is only available as a frame.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

First off, don't! What's the worst they can do, flame you? If their offended, it's their problem. If
they do flame you, tell them to fvck right off, or somewhat, because they were not going to help
anyway. You have as much right to post Usenet as anyone else, so feel free to do so. That's my 'bit
    of advise'.

Don't know enough about these to help, but there are others than can.......and will.

How convenient, you've answered your own question.

That'll limit your choices more than anything. Visit every bike shop within reasonable ditance, and
see what they have to offer.

There's a little more info at bbauer.gomen.orgnewbike. If you can think of anything to add,
    let me know.

Do some research and look thru the threads. 🙂

How brilliant, you proved you're a moron.

(Clue: you snip someone's point, calling it pointless, but say it proved someone else's point --
NONE OF WHICH YOU QUOTE -- so what's the point?!?)
