  1. I have ordered a ultegra 6500 splined BB for my road bike. I
currently have a un-xx style BB. I also have the tool to remove
the un-xx bb. The tool is about 5 years old. I want to know if
this tool will install the splined style BB. Or, do I need to
    purchase a special tool?

    Thanks,

    no email please.

  2. You need a splinded tool. A big adjust- able wrench

I used the same tool for the square taper and splined bb and it worked
fine. Since that time, I bought a Pedros ISIS tool and it works well
for the Shimano square taper, ISIS, and Octalink bb.

I use Parks and a rear skewer as shown here...

This is a splined XTR BB and an older Park BBT, you may want to wait to see
if it fits before purchasing another tool. My Park tool won't work on ISIS
BB's as it isn't deep enough.
