Are we really just going to sweep under the rug the fact that our dilapidated road infrastructure is the biggest structural concern in US bike racing? I mean, come on, crumbling asphalt, potholes the size of manholes, and lanes that are only slightly wider than a bike tire - its a miracle more pros arent being carted off to the hospital every week. And dont even get me started on the lack of bike-specific infrastructure, like decent bike lanes and secure bike parking. Yet, were still debating the merits of disc brakes versus rim brakes and whether or not aero helmets are worth the weight penalty. How about we focus on the real issue here: our roads are a disaster, and its only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt. Whats more, how do we expect to grow the sport and attract new fans when our courses look like they were lifted straight out of a war zone?
