What are the best road cycling mental training and visualization techniques?

I'm not convinced that mental preparation is equally crucial for success on the road. While it's true that a strong mental game can help, I think it's overstated. Most riders I know who focus on physical conditioning still come out on top. As for visualization techniques, I'm skeptical about their efficacy. Mental rehearsal and guided imagery may provide a temporary confidence boost, but I doubt they have a lasting impact. If you're struggling with pre-race jitters or self-doubt, perhaps it's because you're not putting in the necessary training miles. Instead of relying on mental tricks, focus on building your endurance and FTP. That's what will get you results.
