  1. No, not an invite to a rude web site ;-)

Got out on the bike for the first time in a fortnight, today, due to a hip
injury. Loved it. Just did a loop to Swaffham & back, so only about 25
miles, but it felt good! Even though it was wet on the way there due to
terminal drizzle and a headwind on the way back, it blew the cobwebs away
and boy, do I feel better for it.

    Cheers, helen s

You must have noticed how one feels so much warmer indoors
after a nice ride like that. If I've been sedentarily
sitting around indoors for too long at this time of year,
I often have to resort to donning a sweater. But after I
get some riding done, I've got my own private summer.

One thing I like about this time of year in the upper North
Temperate Zone is that it's generally fairly easy to be
comfortably cool while riding (but also maybe too easy to
overheat by overdressing.) In the heat of summer we're
stuck with whatever ambient temperature we've got. But
    that's okay too.

During January to March, overcast skies might be preferable
for many, to clear & bright with the low sun glaring right
    in one's eyes.

Anyhow, I'm glad you had such an enjoyable ride after your
off-time. I guess a little abstinence makes the heart
    grow fonder of riding.

I don't know where Swaffham is, or what it's like, but it
    sounds delightfully romantically quaint.

    cheers,
    Tom

Glad to hear someone is getting to do some biking. As much as I enjoy
riding I just can't make myself do it when there is snow and ice on the
ground or it's below freezing. Oh well, spring is just around the corner
and I'll have more changes to get out there. In the mean time I'm learning
to do some bike maintenance and preparations for the biking programs this
    year.

Actually I'm permanently freezing right now. Reason - I've lost 26.5 lbs
since the middle of December and I am feeling the loss of my insulation ;-)

One tjhing that is a migraine trigger for me is sunlight flickering through
the trees/hedgerows, when the sun is low in the sky. Overcast is much
    appreciated by me!

Middle of Norfolk, England. Ancient market town. It has its quaint bits :-)

Luckily the bit of the UK where I live doesn't get much snow. Currently we
have a lot of rain - and the air can be cold and damp, which chills to the
bone. Give me cold dry air over cold damp air any day.

    Cheers, helen s

  6. Out here in my part of the U.S. Pacific Northwest, we typically get
about 76 inches of rain a year from late October through late May and a
day of light snow maybe once every three years. But in this strangest
of winters, the rain hasn't yet started in earnest. It's been great for
cycling, horrible for skiing (not to mention the water outlook for next
summer). I've been going out riding almost very day at noon. It's
amazing how a mid-winter ride can improve your outlook on life...
