A reasonably sensible answer, but does she still get a good mark in the assessment if the response
she prints out for her folder is from another student doing the same course at another college [see
footnote 1] ? I thought the idea behind the assessment was for her to try to fool unsuspecting
members of the public into thinking that she's really interested in walking? :-)

Seriously, even the SQA have now realised that this assessment is badly thought out. See
makeashorterlink.commakeashorterlink.com . It's a pity that the lecturers in the present two colleges
haven't understood this advice. It's not the students' fault that they are being taught so poorly.

Students will get much better results if they choose a topic that really does interest them, and
find a group appropriate to that topic, rather than just picking a topic out of the assessment
materials and trying to fake it. The idea behind newsgroups is that you should take an active part
in a meaningful discussion, but it's impossible to do that if you're not interested in the topic.
The SQA seems to have belatedly realised this, but the message is obviously not getting through to
    lecturers on the ground.

As a result, many of the answers students currently receive just take the [censored]. It's a way for
regular newsgroup users to vent their frustration at seeing the same inane questions out of the
assessment materials, over and over and over again from colleges all over Scotland.

Susan and Dinky1888, this is not your fault, but please will you print this message out and give it
    to your lecturers.

Just do a Google search on "West Highland Way" Susan , I'm sure you'll find more than enough info
    there. Dave All Wainwrights completed
