Howdy doody
I'm doing the west highland way this weekend. I've got a 1982 Raleigh
Grifter and I want to know if I should go in Blue gear or Yellow gear?
thank
Gal.

Whatever gear you want. Bear in mind that the harder the gear the faster you
get there..
Personally I prefer purple..

Are you both stupid? There is only blue gear, yellow gear and red gear. You
obviously don't know what you are talking about. The only other setting is
the silver bit between yellow and red but that usually results in sore nads.

There is also rain gear, the two-foot gear, and cycling gear. At least three
of which can be purple. There is also another sort of gear (I am reliably
informed by an aquaintance familiar with London vernacular) pertaining to
substances that make ones day somewhat purple in appearance.

Look, I know you probably think you are helping, but you are clearly
thinking of a different cycle. If you don't know your bikes, I suggest you
keep your ridiculous advice for people who aren't as clued up on cycling as
myself. You are making a complete fool of yourself.

LOL! Richard Gere! That was an excellent play on words! His name is Richard
Gere, which sounds like Gear. You were suggesting that Richard could be a
gear on a bike. You're a funny, funny man.
All hilarity aside though. Can anyone tell me? Blue or Yellow?
thank
Gal.

Oh, heavens, no, not the green one. Pull anyone but the green one.

There is *no* green gear !!! Why is everyone being so stupid? Please answer
my question. You were all happy to answer my Tyre question.

You have to consider the possibility that God does not like you. He
never wanted you. In all probability, he hates you.

I did. You don't have to leave the other ones behind. You can choose
whichever you want, whenever you want.
Grifters were *soo* cool when I was ten.

Surely this problem is easy to remedy with a judicious application of a
suitably coloured touch up paint? Nail varnish may also work.
cheers,

Retailed by J*r*m* Cl*rks*n: at a party one day he introduced himself
to a bevy of cuties with the line "Hi, I'm Jeremy, I do Top Gear" The
response, allegedly, was: "No thanks, love, we don't do that stuff."
Although it might have been "we're sorted".
Or something.

Which reminds me, for no particular reason but in a free-association kind
of way, of a story John Peel told which goes very roughly thus:
__
I was at a big BBC dinner, the sort of thing where you find yourself
sitting between Zoe Ball and P.D.James, and I turned to the bloke
opposite me and said:
"Hello, I don't think we've met. I'm John Peel."
"Actually, we were introduced five minutes ago. I'm John Birt."
Difficult to recover from, that sort of thing...
