I've never seen anything like this before - and I've been riding a long
time. This hardly even looks convenient...where would you ride it, first of
all? I certainly wouldn't want the left side it you're riding in traffic.

This is why the Google was invented. This type of tandem is call a
"sociable" and has been around over 100 years. Never very popular but
actually ridable. You can find them in two, three and four wheel
versions.

Right. The one illustrated is not very old, I seem to recall an
attempt to re-invent the sociable in the 1990s, and believe this is one
of the repros.

BTW, strictly speaking this is _not_ a "tandem." Tandem means one in
front of the other.

I saw one on a ride in Wisconsin last summer. Hubby/wife riders, did
OK (10-12 mph) on flats, but dismally slow uphill. They did not
finish the ride. I don't know whether they were competent cyclists,
but I was not impressed. FWIW

A blue side-by-side bicycle with a cool S-shaped metal bar that

One wonders where is the adjustability for a team where each person
has a radically different weight ?? How do you get a "bike fit" on
such a bicycle ??
