Ah -ha!~ You solved it! Yes I am - a drug that increases insulin
absorption, so it might affect my perception of sweetness. But
wouldn't it affect other things I eat? So far, the only thing I
noticed were the avocados.

Metformin? (Glucophage)
Hard to say... it might eventually.
Avocados tend to have a rather unique chemistry. :-)
I started glucophage about a month ogo for insulin resistance.
Seems to really be helping me to lose the weight, but I've also been
following a very restricted diet.
I did eat some avocados today and I did not notice any difference in
taste, but then I had chopped them up and added mayo.
No bread tho'. <sigh>

This isn't exactly on topic but....
have you had any side effects? When I take metformin alone, I have rather
PITA side effects, but strangely, they seem to lessen to a great degree when
I take it conjunction with something else.
Weird.

I was warned by my doctor about that and she said the unpleasant side
effects would stop after a month or so of use. She also used a graduated
dosage for me so it would not be as distressing. 1 a day for a week,
then 2 a day for a week etc. to work up to two twice per day. These are
500mg.
It's been almost exactly a month now and there are no more cramps, and
the "other" common side effect has nearly gone away. :-)
And I've lost about 15 lbs. in the last month. I'm hoping the drug will
do as advertised and increase insulin sensitivity!
PITA is a good way to describe the side effects! <lol>
But, if it continues working this way, it'll be worth it.
I miss pasta. :-P
My other meds are Thyrolar and Adderal.
I'm also rather hypothyroid. :-P Double whammy for weight loss!
That and my internet addiction. <G> I need to get out and walk more.
