weird 3 spd hub... need tech specs

The 333 is a Shimano 3-speed hub.

Sheldon says, "The Shimano 3-speed is adjusted in middle gear, so that
the letter "N" is centered in the window of the bell crank."

I've never ridden one myself, so I can't say any more.

According to the second posted link, the "FA-type" (bottom pic) shown in the following diagram:

is the 333 type. Don't know if this helps or is correct.

Google this group for Shimano 333. I was given some helpful hints a few
years back by this group when I was faced with such a hub.

Yup, Shimano. Not a horrible hub, but not as good as a Sturmey Archer.
Not recommended for clydesdales, but should hold up fine for most
riders. As far as I know, you can't get the cables for them anymore,
but you can jerry rig a S/A cable to work. They thrive on regular motor
oil just like S/A hubs.

DON'T take it apart if it works. Nothing you can do for it if it is
broken. Just the opposite of the Sturmey Archer hubs where you can fix
them.

Lube it!

The shimano's do have 1 advantage over the SA hubs. No neutral between
2nd & 3rd gear so less chance of the classic body meats stem/top tube
event...

glad to see SunRace has finally redesigned the SA hubs. Fixed the
major problems of neutral and no decent seals on the bearings.
